POSITION SUMMARY
The VDC Field Technician is primarily responsible for assisting in the layout of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing systems on construction projects. Responsibilities include a variety of technical duties in the area of surveying, construction operations, and system layout in support of project superintendents, foreman and journeyman. The VDC Field Technician will assist with obtaining necessary data to complete the installation of fabricated components on behalf of the company.
What you’ll do:
Perform assigned tasks utilizing Brandt’s VDC software and technology tools. Set up and operate VDC equipment, such as Trimble GPS, Total Station/Robotic equipment and other survey equipment to establish project site control. Handle and carry surveying equipment on various terrain. Locate and mark points throughout a jobsite for plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. Read drawings and perform layouts according to approved plans on the jobsite. Lift and move materials safely out of the way to mark points as needed Communicate effectively with others on jobsites about your assigned task and the space needed to complete the task. Perform all work within the confines of Brandt’s safety rules and regulations. Perform additional assignments as requested/needed. Prepare Points Shop Drawings for layout and installation in the field
What you’ll need to be successful:
Must be able to pass a drug test is requirement A great plus is a fundamental knowledge of Trimble GPS, Total Station/Robotic equipment and other survey equipment The ability to operate AutoCAD/PointLayout/Revit Must be able to adapt to new surveying methods and offer experienced input Understanding of typical project deliverable composition (i.e. drawings and specifications) Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment Broad understanding of design approaches and systems Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills Excellent time management skills Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment Advanced computer proficiency, including MS Office
What you bring to the table:
High school diploma/GED Minimum three (3) years of land surveying experience
