Job Description:

The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Florida invites applications from cutting edge principal investigators for a full-time, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor position. We seek outstanding candidates with research interests in all aspects of ocular and visual system biology and disease with an emphasis on scientists with innovative and field-defining research programs in basic or translational research. The ideal candidate will hold an MD, PhD, or MD/PhD degree and will have a track record of successful research and scholarly activity as demonstrated by exceptional peer-reviewed publications and successful acquisition of current and past extramural funding.

The Ophthalmology Department is committed to promoting high-quality basic and translational research, and the successful candidate will join a collegial, energetic, and diverse group of scientists already in the Department.  The Department has a strong history of National Eye Institute and foundation funding and enjoys a strong reputation in the vision research community. The University of Florida promotes a robust research environment.  It is currently ranked 5th of all public universities in terms of research accomplishments and NIH funding by its faculty and hosts vision researchers in numerous research centers and institutes with whom Ophthalmology faculty collaborate.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary and start-up package. Salary, rank and tenure status will be commensurate with credentials and experience. The College of Medicine has an active faculty compensation plan, which includes incentives and bonuses. Employer will assist with relocation costs.

Expected Salary:

Commensurate based on rank and experience with an excellent benefits package.

Minimum Requirements:

Completion of an approved doctoral program. If clinician-scientist, completion of an approved ophthalmology residency program as well as board certification or eligibility, and eligibility to obtain an unrestricted Florida license is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

A strong background in vision research demonstrated by a strong publication record and history of successful funding. In addition to research, candidate should have a strong commitment to teaching in an academic setting.
