Visiting Assistant Professor, American Studies
The American Studies Department at Skidmore College welcomes applications for a One-Year Visiting Assistant Professor of American Studies for the academic year 2025-2026. The position requires five courses throughout the year, at least two of which will be at the introductory level and will emphasize reading critically, thinking historically, practicing interdisciplinarity, and acknowledging diversity. The remaining three courses will be offered at more advanced levels in the candidate's primary fields of expertise. Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate strong commitments to teaching within a small, liberal arts college setting and to creating "inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body." Qualifications: Candidates should hold a Ph. D. in American Studies (or a closely related discipline) and will have experience in teaching courses in the fields of Cultural Geography, Material Culture, Film/Media Studies, and/or Museum Studies.
