Title Visiting Lecturer in Middle Eastern and North African Studies (Arabic language and literature) for January 2025 Posting Number F00257JP Department Middle Eastern and North African Studies Position Summary The Middle Eastern and North African Studies Program at Bowdoin College invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible visiting lecturer position in Arabic language and literature for the the spring 2025 semester and the 2025-26 academic year with the possibility of a second full year pending review and reappointment. The appointment begins January 13, 2025. The teaching load is five courses per year; the blend of language and literature courses will depend on the lecturer’s interests and qualifications combined with curricular needs. An advanced degree, MA or PhD, in Arabic or a related discipline is required by the date of appointment. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education.  Bowdoin requires its faculty to have a strong commitment to inclusive excellence in their teaching.
