The National Center for Media Forensics actively develops basic and applied research projects in areas affecting the analysis and recovery of digital forensic multimedia for courtroom proceedings. Areas include the enhancement and authentication of digital forensic audio and imagery as well as biometric comparisons and event analyses from forensic recordings. The National Center for Media Forensics offers a Master of Science in Media Forensics (MSMF) degree program. This program prepares students from various backgrounds for work in the field of forensic audio, video, and image analysis utilizing the state-of-the-art methods and technology necessary to fight crime in the digital age. MSMF classes are presented in a hybrid format combining primarily online learning with a small portion of concentrated in-person classes. MSMF coursework prepares students for research, teaching, or forensic practice in the investigative application of scientific methods aiding the criminal and civil justice systems. The National Center for Media Forensics seeks a Visiting Research Faculty for a three-year appointment. A successful candidate is expected to develop independent research programs and serve as principal investigator on proposals to external agencies. The University looks to attract a high-quality researcher to engage in academic and scholarly activities including but not limited to: performing collaborative research with academic faculty; supervising graduate research; and organizing, attending, and presenting at professional conferences and seminars. Although the primary assignment will be research, a successful appointment will include teaching nine credits annually. **What you will do:** _Research (76%)_ + Secure external funding by engaging in sponsored project research opportunities. + Enhance reputation of program through scholarly and research activity. + Engage the professional and academic community through research, paper presentations, and publications. _Teaching (24%)_ + Teach nine (9) credits annually (may include summer) in the areas of forensic science and litigation, research practices, forensic video and image analysis, experiential learning, research thesis, or other media forensics courses at the graduate course level. + Faculty are responsible for the preparation of course content, syllabi, lectures, presentations, and student assignments; evaluation of student work; tracking and progress of student attendance and engagement; student advisement, office hours, management of course in online platform Canvas; etc. **Compensation and Benefits** The salary range ( _or hiring range_ ) for this position has been established at $70,000-80,000, annually. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
