**Overview of Department & Mentor** Our team consists of Professor Ju Dong Yang, 2 CRCs, 5 CRAs and 4 visiting scholars. Professor Yang is in charge of treating patients with various liver diseases such as liver cancer, hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, steatotic liver disease, and alcoholic liver disease. He leads all research and activities as the PI for our all research, in addition to patient care. Additionally, all members of our team are conducting numerous clinical studies and transitional studies on liver diseases. Based on these studies, currently many research papers are being written. **Role Summary & Objectives** The researcher will investigate the prognosis and predictors of steatotic liver disease (MASLD or ALD). We want to study in detail whether the screening for liver fibrosis using fibroscan in patients with steatotic liver disease is useful. By conducting this study using different databases, we aim to find out how the screening effect differs in different settings. Dr. Kwak will be responsible for data collection, analysis and writing the paper for this study in collaboration with her mentor. This research experience is expected to serve as a stepping stone for future collaboration between Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Seoul National University Hospital's Gangnam Center. **Role Activities & Timeline** The candidate will perform his respective duties according to the following schedule. Feb. 2025: - Identify research topic on steatotic liver disease currently being conducted at the CSMC - Set research topic goals using available dataset in consultation with the mentor. Mar.- Oct. 2025: - Data collection & Data analysis Nov. 2025 - Jan. 2026: - Results organization, and draft the manuscript - Explore opportunities for further research expansion **Required Education & Experience** + Must be 18 years of age or older. + Must have a doctorate degree (MD and/or PhD). + Must reside in the greater Los Angeles area or surrounding cities while conducting all activities related to the intern or visitor appointment. + INTERNS: Those participating for academic credit must receive academic credit for the duration of the internship. + VISITORS: Must be receiving funding from an eligible sponsoring institution (employer, educator, funder, etc.). **Physical Demands:** Lifting 50 lbs.
