Mission of the role: To drive operational excellence and strategic alignment within the Tech Centre while building strong university partnerships that attract, develop, and retain top talent. This role splits the time between two core areas – being the Tech center Champion and driving the Visteon scholar program.
Tech Centre Champion:
Strategic and Financial Alignment
Ensure the Tech Centre budget aligns with actual expenditure, fostering strategic financial management.
Define Tech Centre strategy and competencies in line with organizational goals to provide clear direction.
Operational Health and Productivity
Maintain optimal cost and performance per engineer, ensuring efficient resource utilization.
Lead a smooth transition back to office, prioritizing productivity, and employee well-being.
Optimize organizational structure by maintaining healthy layers and spans and establishing streamlined reporting lines.
Monitor site-specific metrics for talent, productivity, quality, and finance.
Drive productivity improvements by empowering functional leaders with necessary resources.
Lead monthly Tech Centre Operating Reviews (TCOR), ensuring timely execution of action items.
Develop a communication cadence (e.g., monthly manager meetings) for transparent dialogue on site and company-wide matters.
Collaborate with suppliers and stakeholders to enhance Tech Centre operations.
University Partnerships and Scholar Program
Build and maintain strong relationships with Indian engineering universities, serving as the primary contact for collaboration.
Manage the end-to-end scholar program for 3rd-year students through their final-year internships, ensuring alignment with Visteon’s talent acquisition needs.
Partner with internal teams to design and execute a learning curriculum aligned with skill requirements.
Create and maintain a pool of Visteon trainers for the scholar program while leveraging external experts and vendors for training delivery.
Organize hackathons, workshops, and guest lectures to engage students and faculty.
Track performance metrics to align university relations with talent acquisition goals.
Monitor education trends to continually enhance internship and early-career training programs.
Talent Development and Retention
Forge partnerships with universities to drive innovation and talent acquisition.
Develop personalized development plans for top and bottom performers within the Tech Centre.
Implement job rotation schemes to enhance skill diversity across teams.
Monitor and mitigate employee attrition proactively at the Tech center.
Assess and enhance training programs to develop the Tech Centre's capabilities.
Key Performance Indicators
Budget vs. actual alignment achieved at the Tech center
Layers and spans deviation within 10%.
Employee pyramid deviation within 20%.
Site productivity above threshold levels.
Quality and depth of relationships with universities.
Conversion rate of scholars to interns and full-time hires.
Timely execution of program milestones (enrollment, assessments, learning modules).
5% job rotation annually.
Year 1 Performance Indicators:
100% adherence to the minimum in-office requirement (12 days/month).
Operational cost continuously optimized with identified improvement opportunities implemented.
Monthly TCOR reviews conducted with clear governance, timely circulation of minutes, and 100% follow-up on action items.
First-level managers have no more than 2 sites reporting into them.
Voluntary and involuntary attrition maintained within annual targets.
University engagement strategy defined and executed, with measurable touchpoints to strengthen collaboration.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Engg preferred.
12–14 years of experience, with expertise in managing Tech Centre operations and university partnerships.
Proven track record in strategic financial management and operational productivity improvement.
Experience leading campus or early-career talent programs in a complex multinational organization.
Strong relationship-building skills, especially with academic institutions.
Understanding of the technology trends in the Automotive industry
Familiarity with technology platforms for learning, assessments, and operational management.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and organizational skills, with an ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
