The Visual Deployment Manager (VDM) provides leadership, development and performance management to a field based, multi-unit, remote workforce. The Best Buy team includes Visual Deployment Supervisors and their Store Experience Visuals & Functionality Teams across a retail market, and Visual Deployment Leads that report directly to the VDM. The Visual Deployment Manager’s role is to promote growth by providing complete on-site and remote leadership, coordination, and follow-up for company sponsored physical changes, merchandising execution, and functionality support within existing Best Buy stores. They manage multiple Store Experience Visuals & Functionality Teams that implement company sponsored physical changes across all Best Buy brands, including Big Box Retail, Specialty Stores, Premium Design Centers, Territory & Marketplace offices, and multiple Logistics facilities.
The Visual Deployment Manager (VDM) role engages heavily in the management, engagement and follow up of work direction and outputs for a population of both Internal and External (Vendor and General Contractor) work groups. In this component of the role, the VDM will be accountable to direct deployment of quality assurance and inspection of work via a deployable inspection resource (Visual Deployment Lead), as well as the Supervisor leadership structure of the team.
People leadership, the ability to develop, foster, hold accountable, and grow talent over time is a critical skillset needed for this position. An individual successful in this role will have strong skills in adaptability, change management and leadership as well as a proven track record of applying that skillset to action via their employees, partners, and peers.
This role will require up to 50% travel and will be expected to be working shoulder to shoulder with teams and leaders in Best Buy locations on both Dayside and occasional Overnight shifts.
What you’ll doRecruit, train and develop the technician supervisors and tam members, including up to 60 indirect reportsCoordinate, delegate support and inspect retail and distribution center projectsProvide day-to-day supervision to local and remote-based employeesProvide detailed updates and reports to all involved partners and provide quality feedback to improve existing processesCreate travel itineraries for yourself and monitor team travel, following accounting standard operating proceduresMonitor and coach productivity and efficiencies of the retail technician team and their reporting structureBasic qualifications3 years of direct people leadership experience3 years of experience building working relationships with general contractor and vendor groups to move the work forward3 years of consumer electronics, retail or military leadership experience3 years of experience operating within and managing expenses in a budgetAbility to travel up to 50% of the yearMust live within drivable distance to the metro area listed on this rolePreferred qualifications3 years of functionality support experience3 years of direct P&L management experience3 years of multi-unit leadership experienceBachelor’s degree or higher in business or related fieldWhat’s in it for you
