The ideal candidate is passionate about the customer experience journey, highly motivated, intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and possesses a collaborative mindset.

Role
In this role, you’ll learn the processes and best practices for crafting a system that supports iteration, encourages collaboration, and promotes consistent design across all products. This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in systemized design, UI patterns, and a desire to grow their skills in design systems work—and beyond. You’ll work on improving the usability of the system, contribute to the library of design components, and gain valuable experience in design system maintenance and documentation within a CX&D team of design strategy, product design and client enablement while upholding Mastercard’s high standards for product experiences.

Responsibilities:
•\tAssist in designing, updating, and refining UI components to ensure consistency and scalability within the design system
•\tCollaborate with senior designers to create components that work across various use cases and platforms (e.g. web and mobile app) and meet WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards
•\tHelp document component usage guidelines, design principles, and best practices to promote a shared understanding of the design system among designers, engineers, and other stakeholders
•\tDevelop a solid foundation in design system thinking and principles by participating in team meetings, design critiques, and workshop sessions
•\tGain exposure to the full product design lifecycle—from an idea and initial design concept to testing, iteration and development
•\tWork with your manager to organize and track work in 2-week sprints, maintaining progress and priorities in Rally/Jira software
•\tParticipate in design reviews, contribute to code reviews, and collaborate on quality assurance to maintain a high standard for visual and interaction design across products
•\tKeep up-to-date with industry trends and new design tools/techniques, continually refining the system to meet modern UX and design standards

All About You
•\tExperience in product design, UI/UX design, ideally with exposure to working within or contributing to a design system
•\tExperienced in Figma and familiar with or willing to learn about front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for seamless collaboration with developers
•\tEnthusiasm for learning about scalable design, modular components, and atomic design principles. A basic understanding of these concepts is a plus but not required.
•\tStrong sense of visual quality, attention to detail
•\tGood interpersonal and communication skills, with a willingness to receive mentorship, ask questions, and work effectively with cross-functional teams
•\tPrototyping experience, knowledge of latest accessibility standards and a desire to create inclusive designs are nice-to-have skills
