Visual Observer – Drone Operations (Part Time)

Location: Concord, CA

About the Role

We are looking for a Visual Observer to support our drone delivery operations by ensuring safe

and compliant flight activities. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining situational awareness,

identifying potential air and ground hazards, and communicating with remote pilots to ensure

safe operations. You’ll be working closely with our drone pilots and operations team to facilitate

efficient, real-world drone deliveries.

Responsibilities

● Maintain visual line of sight (VLOS) with drones during flight operations.

● Actively scan for and report any aerial, ground, or environmental hazards that could

impact operations.

● Communicate real-time observations to the Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC) to ensure

safe flights.

● Assist with pre-flight and post-flight safety checks, including assessing airspace

conditions.

● Monitor weather conditions, terrain, and surrounding obstacles for potential risks.

● Work in compliance with FAA Part 107 regulations and company safety protocols.

● Support field operations, including site setup, drone deployment, and data logging.

● Collaborate with the operations team to improve safety procedures and operational

efficiency.

Qualifications

Required:

● Ability to maintain continuous visual contact with drones and assess airspace conditions.

● Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise hazard reports.

● Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

● Comfort with technology and drone operations (training will be provided).

● Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.

Nice to Have:

● Prior experience in aviation, drone operations, or air traffic monitoring.

● FAA Part 107 Certification (or willingness to obtain).

● Experience working in logistics, delivery, or field operations.

● Experience in public safety, security, or emergency response is a plus.

Hours:

This role is Monday - Friday between 9am-5pm and will be scheduled on average 25 hours a week - depending on the team's needs with potential to becoming full time as the operation grows.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
