Vivarium Animal Technician Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking a Vivarium Animal Technician for a contract position at a premier research facility in Fontana, CA. Pay: $22/hour DOE Contract to Hire Overview: Our client is committed to advancing scientific research and ensuring the well-being of laboratory animals. As a Vivarium Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining animal health, vivarium cleanliness, and supporting a range of research and surgical activities. Schedule: Day shift, must be open to occasional weekend, holiday, and extended hours. Responsibilities: • Animal Care: Provide basic veterinary care and ensure the health and well-being of laboratory animals, including feeding, hydration, and observation for signs of illness or distress. • Vivarium Maintenance: Proactively manage and track animal inventory and supplies, maintain cleanliness of animal rooms, and assist in maintaining a vermin-free environment. • Surgical and Research Support: Prepare surgical packs, sterilize instruments, assist with procedures, monitor animals post-surgery, and collect blood or other biological samples for research. • General Laboratory Support: Assist in laboratory cleaning, sterilization of equipment, and maintaining supplies. • Documentation: Maintain accurate records for animal health, procedures, and research data. Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in biology, animal science, or related field preferred. • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as standing for long periods and handling animals. • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols. • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.
