General Summary:This is a hybrid, campus adjacent role. Candidates must be based out of our Portland, Maine or Chattanooga, TN offices only.
**Relocation assistance considered for non-campus adjacent candidates.


As the Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant, you are responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting vocational and medical information. In this role, you will work collaboratively with claims professionals and other resources in multiple settings to assess vocational information and provide vocational opinion on duties and demands. The Vocational Consultant engages employers, claimants, healthcare providers and internal resources to facilitate return to work and stay at work services. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional service in every interaction, taking full accountability for a positive experience.

Application of vocational knowledge through assessment and synthesis of claim file information and ability to offer balanced conclusionsAbility to concisely communicate (written and verbally) complex vocational issues in a fast-paced, environment Partner with multiple resources to identify, develop, coordinate and implement complex vocational rehabilitation and return to work plansCollaboration with internal and external resources to gather pertinent vocational and medical documentation to accurately assess file directionResponsible for comprehensive forensic vocational assessmentsProvide coaching of claims professionals to increase vocational knowledgeOperate with a sense of urgency and flexibility to meet the needs of a rapidly changing environment, while meeting performance standards set for quality and quantity of work   Display capacity and drive for learning and developing broad business and leadership skills; openness to diverse ideas & experiences and has self-awareness re: strengths and areas of developmentMust maintain professional certifications, while staying abreast of new trends in the vocational field and complete other required educational activitiesLive the Unum Leadership Expectations and the We Are Unum Values.


 


What You’ll Bring with You

Master’s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation or a related fieldCertified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) certification preferredMinimum 3 years vocational experience preferredStrong written and verbal communication skillsAnalytical and data-driven mindsetProblem solving and research skillsAbility to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partnersProven ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environmentExcellent organization, time management and the ability to multitask Familiarity with a variety of vocational resources/software. Willingness to learn new technologies and systems.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$53,300.00-$100,700.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.  All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
