The Vocational Specialist at UPMC’s Vocational Training Center is responsible for developing, implementing, and documenting educational, vocational, and adaptive behavior skill training. This role supports individuals with Intellectual Disability, Autism, and secondary mental health diagnoses. The specialist supervises and instructs client groups during workdays, provides individualized training for competitive employment, and offers follow-up support to ensure proper job performance. The position involves participation in various tasks and duties as assigned, within the Vocational Center and the Supported Employment Program.
Responsibilities:
Goal Planning and Service Implementation
Develop and deliver goal plans for clients. Create individualized service plans and provide vocational guidance. Assist with self-care and hygiene activities as needed.Coordination and Documentation
Coordinate transportation and document progress. Ensure compliance with regulations.Training and Support
Train and support clients at work sites. Assist in job development and provide follow-up services.Communication and Relationships
Maintain communication with all stakeholders and establish good working relationships.Job Analysis and Training Programs
Conduct job analysis and develop training programs. Prepare clients for more independent vocational settings.
