FLSA Status: Full Time - non-exempt 
Reports to:  Community Relations Directors

Schedule: Full-Time Hourly
Supervises: N/A

Rate of Pay: $22.51- $26.25 per hour

Closing Date: 3/28/2025

Function

The Volunteer Coordinator is a full-time, hourly position to recruit, train, schedule and manage volunteers for The Salvation Army Colorado Springs Corps.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Volunteer Coordinator will:

Manage Volunteer Management Software (VMS) and volunteer database Recruit, screen, train, schedule, and oversee volunteers for day-to-day operations as needed by department heads and for special events, and reassign volunteers if necessary Collaborate with staff members to adapt existing volunteer opportunities and develop new opportunities to meet changing needs and increase volunteerism each year Maintain effective communication and response with local businesses/agencies involving volunteer opportunities Promote volunteerism through social media, local, county, and national agencies and other online platforms Onboard volunteers, track and report volunteer hours, and maintain accurate filing to keep volunteer files audit ready with current applications, background checks and other required documents Work with the Red Kettle Campaign/Coordinator to recruit and incorporate volunteers into the annual campaign Maintain regular communication with volunteers and institute a process for thanking/recognizing volunteers Attend networking or marketing events as needed in El Paso County to recruit volunteers

 

Education, Experience, Skills, Qualifications

Education/Experience HS Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college preferred 2+ years of experience in volunteer coordination, HR management or related experience Skills Microsoft Word, Excel, PPT and Outlook Knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs Qualifications Experience in managing Volunteer Management Software (VMS) or similar program Ability to recruit and supervise volunteers Knowledge of social media, local, county, and national agencies and online volunteer/event platforms Administrative and management skills with the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality Ability to use critical thinking skills to solve problems Detail oriented, able to multi-task and remain flexible with assignments Driving A minimum age of 21 (for insurance provision) and possession of a valid in-state driver’s license is required.

An MVR will be processed every year in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies.

Background Check Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies.
