The Volunteer Coordinator ensures timely completion of customer audio transcription orders by coordinating and monitoring volunteer readers and assignments. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: + Reading and evaluating a wide variety of printed materials and publications and assigning them to volunteers with the appropriate expertise in that subject + Coordinating, monitoring, and supporting daily volunteer recording activities so that customer needs and schedules are met + Providing assistance to volunteers on a wide range of issues, particularly on matters relating to the production of audio recordings + Overseeing the development of volunteer recognition and maintenance of volunteer areas + Providing and maintaining recruiting information on volunteers and volunteer opportunities + Administering oral reading test to applicants + Assisting with volunteer onboarding and training This position will be based out of the St. Paul office and may be eligible to telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) up to two (2) days per week. Staff are provided with the tools and equipment to be successful in a virtual work environment. Please note, the telework policy could change with notice based on business needs. **Minimum Qualifications** **Please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held. Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for this position.** One (1) year of work experience in audiobook production or radio or television broadcasting Applicants that meet the above minimum qualification will be further evaluated on the following: + Ability to read a wide variety of printed materials to determine assignment to appropriate recording volunteer + Knowledge of the components necessary for professional quality audio production including the ability to operate recording equipment + Knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office suite programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) to check and respond to email and create documents + Skill in human relations sufficient to interact with volunteers from a wide variety of backgrounds + Skill in problem solving sufficient to troubleshoot issues with recording equipment + Skill in written communication sufficient to create a monthly email newsletter **Reading Exercise** If selected for an interview, a pass/fail reading exercise will be administered during the interview, which will require candidates to read aloud printed articles and complete a pronunciation test. **Preferred Qualifications** + Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Audio Production, Radio, Theatre, TV Production, Journalism, or other closely related field as determined by the agency + Experience in volunteer coordination and management + Experience in coaching and instruction, particularly of skills relating to oral reading and audio recording + Excellence in oral reading to assist volunteers and assess quality of work + Wide range of knowledge of pronunciation of English and non-English words and names, with the skill and competency to research unfamiliar words and names quickly and accurately + Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a team environment Our employees are dedicated to ensuring cultural responsiveness.
