These discretionary target bonuses may be awarded semi-annually based upon your achievement of performance goals and targets.

About This Job

Axos is seeking a VP, Commercial Quality Control who will be responsible for overseeing quality control functions specifically within the lending and credit portfolios of the organization. This role ensures that all commercial lending products, credit processes, and associated services meet the highest standards of quality, regulatory compliance, and risk management. The VP will lead a team of quality control professionals, collaborate with key departments, and continuously improve systems and processes to mitigate risk, enhance customer satisfaction, and ensure adherence to industry regulations.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a comprehensive quality control strategy for the lending and credit functions, aligning with the overall corporate objectives and regulatory requirementsEstablish and monitor quality control goals, KRIs, and performance metrics, ensuring alignment with lending and credit portfolio objectives and regulatory standardsOversee quality control processes for commercial lending products and credit services, including loan origination, underwriting, credit risk assessments, and loan servicingEnsure that all lending and credit activities comply with relevant regulatory frameworks, such as Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), and other federal, state, and local regulationsWork closely with legal, risk, and regulatory affairs teams to maintain full compliance with lending-related laws and regulatory changes.Implement and monitor risk management procedures to identify and mitigate credit, operational, and compliance risks in the lending process.Identify trends or recurring issues related to loan underwriting, approval, or servicing and take proactive measures to prevent recurrence.Lead investigations into any instances of quality deficiencies or compliance breaches, ensuring timely and effective corrective actions are taken.Collaborate with loan origination, underwriting, portfolio management, and credit teams to ensure seamless quality control processes across the lending lifecyclePartner with IT and digital banking teams to integrate quality controls into technology systems supporting lending and credit services, such as loan origination systems (LOS) and credit scoring toolsLead continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process inefficiencies, quality gaps, or emerging risks within lending and credit operations.Use performance insights to recommend changes to policies, processes, or controls to further enhance the quality and integrity of lending operationsTake ownership of ad-hoc projects, responding to business needs with agility and delivering timely solutions

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related fieldAdvanced certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, PMP) or a Master's degree in a relevant discipline is a plus8+ years of experience in quality control, risk management, or credit risk roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership positionStrong understanding of regulatory requirements related to lending and credit (e.g., HMDA, Fair Lending, etc.) is highly preferredProven track record of leading quality control processes, audits, and risk management initiativesExcellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to motivate teams and drive change within the organization.Strong analytical skills with experience using data analytics to assess performance, identify risks, and recommend improvementsFamiliarity with process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) is preferred
