A Typical Day
VP, Consumer Insights to join our team. In this role, you will be the voice of the customer (consumer and B2B audiences), driving strategic business decisions through the discovery and communication of actionable insights. You will design, execute, and analyze research to understand consumer needs, behaviors, and motivations, ultimately influencing product development, marketing strategies, and overall business growth.
The VP, Consumer Insights will:
+ Consumer Research & Analysis:
+ Research Strategy and Planning: Develop research strategy for Pennymac audiences, and create execution plan based on research strategy
+ Design and Execute Research: Develop and implement qualitative and quantitative research studies (e.g., surveys, focus groups, interviews, usability testing, ethnographic research) to address key business questions
+ Data Analysis & Synthesis: Analyze and interpret data from various sources (primary research, secondary research, social listening, sales data) to identify key consumer insights and trends
+ Consumer Segmentation: Develop and refine consumer segmentation models to understand target audiences and their unique needs
+ Trend Identification: Monitor and analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive activity to identify emerging opportunities and threats.
+ Insight Communication & Storytelling:
+ Develop Actionable Insights: Translate complex data into clear, concise, and actionable insights that inform strategic business decisions
+ Create Compelling Reports & Presentations: Develop and deliver engaging presentations and reports to communicate research findings to stakeholders at all levels of the organization
+ Visualize Data: Utilize data visualization tools to effectively communicate insights and trends
+ Build a Knowledge Repository: Create and maintain a centralized repository of consumer insights and research findings
+ Strategic Partnership & Collaboration:
+ Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product development, marketing, sales, and other teams to ensure consumer insights are integrated into all stages of the business lifecycle
+ Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
+ Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external research agencies and vendors to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness
+ Act as a Consumer Advocate: Champion the voice of the consumer within the organization, ensuring that consumer needs are considered in all decision-making
+ Market & Competitive Intelligence:
+ Competitive Analysis: Conduct competitive analysis to understand competitor strategies, consumer perceptions, and market positioning. Market Monitoring: Track market trends and competitive activity to identify opportunities and threats. Stay Informed: Keep abreast of new consumer insights methodologies, technologies, and best practices.
What You’ll Bring
+ Bachelor's degree in marketing, market research, psychology, sociology, or a related field. (Master's degree preferred).
+ Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in consumer insights, market research, or a related field.
+ Strong understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
+ Proven ability to analyze and interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
+ Familiarity with both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies including survey design, respondent recruiting, data analytics.
+ Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R, Python, Snowflake) and survey platforms (e.g., SurveyMonkey, Marketing Cloud, BirdEye, Qualtrics).
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
+ A passion for understanding consumer behavior and a strong customer-centric mindset.
+ Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a financial services industry Experience with social listening tools and techniques. Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Compensation: Individual salary may vary based on multiple factors including specific role, geographic location / market data, and skills and experience as defined below:
+ Lower in range - Building skills and experience in the role
+ Mid-range - Experience and skills align with proficiency in the role
+ Higher in range - Experience and skills add value above typical requirements of the role
Some roles may be eligible for performance-based compensation and/or stock-based incentives awarded to employees based on company and individual performance.
Salary
$95,000 - $155,000
