VP, Corporate Medical Director

In this leadership position, you will be the primary resource for regional and corporate physicians and Vitalant personnel, providing medical expertise and guidance on donor suitability, blood product preparation, and ensuring the safety of both donors and recipients. Additionally, you will oversee the operational functions of our central office Medical Affairs Department, driving excellence and innovation in support of our life-saving work.   Our comprehensive total rewards support you, your family, and your future with:  Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401K + 5% company match Tuition assistance up to $5k per year Free basic life and AD&D insurance Free short-and-long-term disability insurance Paid time off Employee Resource Groups Recognition and perks     As the VP, Corporate Medical Director, you'll get to: Lead and Develop Your Team: Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate personnel while addressing and resolving personnel matters effectively.Shape Strategic Planning: Develop and manage the department budget while formulating and implementing strategies for both short- and long-term planning.Oversee Medical Operations: Direct critical Medical Affairs functions such as donor counseling, lookback investigations, and handling transfusion-associated infections or adverse reactions.Provide Expert Consultation: Serve as a key medical advisor to field Medical Directors, participating hospitals, physicians, donors, and patients, while contributing to internal and external educational programs.Drive Policy Development: Collaborate on donor medical policy development, ensuring proper application and implementation across operations.Enhance Blood Center Practices: Evaluate and improve technologies, policies, and services while recommending quality enhancements for blood components and services.Guide Critical Operations: Provide medical direction for Manufacturing, Training, Quality Management, and Regulatory Affairs teams, ensuring effective procedure validation, approval, and training implementation.Stay at the Forefront of the Industry: Publish impactful research, represent Vitalant in professional organizations, and maintain a network of industry relationships to stay ahead of trends and advancements.Knowledge/ Education  MD or DO required.Thorough knowledge of the entire blood product manufacturing process, cGMPs and all applicable regulations affecting such processes required.    Licenses/ Certifications  Licensed (or acquires license within 6 months) in the State of work required.Board Certified in Clinical Pathology, Pediatrics or Internal Medicine required.Board Certified in Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine, Hematology, or 10 years’ experience in the field of Transfusion Medicine required.    Experience  Nine years’ experience in the field of Transfusion Medicine required to include five years at a senior management level.Experience at a blood center that collects, tests, and distributes blood products for transfusion preferred.    Skills/ Abilities  Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management and provide consistently high levels of customer service. Good supervisory skills with the ability to effectively utilize and develop personnel to execute job tasks. Excellent leadership ability, planning, organizational, analytical, problem solving and prioritizing skills. Ability to plan and organize a diversified and heavy workload. Ability to make sound decisions and work well under pressure. Ability to work in a team environment and participate as an active member of management.
