VP, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)
Status: Exempt (Salaried)
Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer (COO), the Vice President of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) will lead all elements of Plug Power’s global environmental, health and safety programs. In this role, you will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for all global EHS programs while working to develop essential EHS tools including safety initiatives and training. This individual will represent Plug Power across industry associations and drive the success of global EHS performance. This position will require you to work with the appropriate local, state, and federal regulatory agencies to maintain compliance and elevate Plug Power’s global EHS efforts.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
Identify, develop, and execute global EHS programs and training that provide employees with the necessary tools to implement safe and environmentally compliant practices, procedures, and productsInfluence site leadership across all Plug teams globally to drive impactful global EHS performanceCollaborate with leadership to identify and develop best practices for key EHS operations; provide clear direction and communicate strategies to develop EHS tools and programs and drive their implementationDevelop ongoing EHS program enhancements and provide technical expertise and solutions in training materials, presentations, and other outreach activitiesDrive standardization across all Business Units and Plug Power footprintsBuild and maintain relationships with key EHS stakeholders including customers, suppliers, industry coalitions, environmental groups, and sustainability professionalsProvide oversight of EHS compliance and ensure consistent communication across all EHS programs; promote continuous improvement efforts in all EHS strategic planningInteract with the appropriate local, state, and federal regulatory agencies as neededEducation and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, EHS or related fieldMinimum of 15 years of Safety and/or progressive EHS experience including EHS program development and leadership experience.Strong knowledge of quality management systems and EHS regulations, including ISO standards.Ability to travel including international as needed, up to 25%Desired Qualifications
Master’s degree in engineering, business, EHS, or a related fieldProven track record of leading global teams and driving organizational change.Demonstrated leadership experience, including successfully leading, coaching and mentoring othersExperience and knowledge of the NEPA process.Ability to align strategic business objectives with individual projectsProven track record of influencing across an organization to stand up new programs and initiativesExceptional communication and presentation skillsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailResults-oriented and driven work styleExcellent task-oriented follow throughPay Rate:
