VP, Income Tax Manager
Job Purpose & Scope Manages the Bank’s income tax function, including compliance, research, planning, and accounting for income taxes and third-party relationships related to tax planning. Essential Job Functions Coordinates assignment of tasks for the income tax group and supports other team members to ensure task completion and regularly communicates status to income tax leadership. Performs preliminary review of financial records used for federal and state income and franchise tax compliance and ensures that they are completed timely. Cultivates existing relationships with third-party consultants, as well as develops new relationships that forward the Bank’s tax planning strategies. Performs preliminary review of financial and regulatory income tax reporting, including financial statement income tax provisions and deferred tax assets and liabilities. Reviews analysis of quarterly financial data from third-party fund managers for partnership and tax credit investments. Reviews accounting and financial reporting duties for equity compensation. Leads tax-related projects and escalates pertinent issues to income tax leadership. Manages the third-party audits of federal, state, and local tax returns or filings. Researches complex tax issues and reports findings to income tax leadership. Performs complex analysis of internal financial information. Regularly exercises discretion and judgment in the performance of essential job functions. Maintains good punctuality and attendance to work. Follows Bank policy, procedures, and guidelines. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of federal and state corporate income tax rules and regulations, as well as associated reporting requirements. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices, specifically related to income taxes. Ability to collect, research, and analyze data. Ability to identify problems/issues in a timely manner. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to demonstrate initiative to accomplish work objectives. Ability to work effectively and demonstrate flexibility in a continually changing environment. Ability to demonstrate effective organization, critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills. Skill in using computer and Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, required. 7+ years’ work experience in the tax practice of a public accounting firm or in a corporate tax department, required. 2+ years of work experience in a leadership or supervisory role, required.
