THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE: The Vice President of Technology eCommerce will be responsible for establishing the strategy, ways of working, and managing the relationships for Ulta’s technology related to eCommerce. This role will lead engineers, testers, architects, and operations across Discovery, Commerce, and Mobile capabilities to provide solutions and products to support our ecommerce and marketing strategies across all channels. This position will report to the Senior Vice President of Consumer Technology and have close partnerships across IT and Ecommerce/Marketing officers. The ideal candidate will have a leadership background running Discovery, Commerce, and Mobile for large retailers ($2B+ online revenue) with MACH based architectures. YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH ALL THESE GOALS BY: Establish the technology strategy for eCommerce to support the broader Ulta eCom/Marketing strategy (web, mobile, search, content management, cart/checkout/order, personalization, security, etc.). Efforts include build/buy selections, standards, tools, and ecosystem partners. Manage a high performing team across the IT ecosystem. Establish ways of working across delivery methodologies, career management of our people, and establishing innovation at the core of our people. Manage budget for the group with strict adherence to financial guidelines and work plans to ensure on time delivery and management of critical, senior level risks and issues. Drive operations for the portfolio with a focus on incident response/resolutions, monitoring, defect management, quality, and all aspects of running operations. Strong focus on delivery with effective metrics to manage outcomes, determine correct delivery methodology per capability, and grow efforts across engineering, testing, and architecture for success. Manage relationships with IT product group and eCom/Marketing business, establish clear roles across teams and create a culture of one team across the multiple functions required to deliver for our guests and associations. Own the relationships with our SI and Tech partners within IT eCom by driving operations/delivery results, establishing cost effective agreements, and be the primary escalation/control point for the eCom/Marketing IT relationships. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Effectively collaborate and partner with cross-functional teams, including Product Organization, IT Security, Enterprise Architecture, Cloud Infrastructure, Enterprise Integration, etc. Drive the agile transformation within the eCom IT function, including implementing agile methodologies, processes, and tools to improve speed, flexibility, and collaboration. Responsible for defining the eCom future state architecture, including the technical infrastructure, data architecture, and application architecture. Lead the adoption of best practices for software development, infrastructure management, architecture, DevOps and Monitoring. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities to improve our systems and processes. THE ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or another relevant field; an MBA or MS is desired. 15+ years of relevant industry experience in a strategic capacity. 12+ years of experience leading technology teams varying in sizes. Experience running eCommerce technology for sites over $2B with composable architectures. Deep understanding of eCommerce technology landscape in Discovery, Commerce, and Mobile capabilities. Experience in C-Level executive presentations and business case creation. Excellent analysis/troubleshooting skills, able to solve problems efficiently. Excellent communication skills; feels comfortable working with non-technical business partners. Strong experience in establishing business processes. Proven track record of delivering high quality solutions on time and on schedule. Able to solve complex problems efficiently and ability to teach/guide other team members as necessary. Innovative thinker who can envision how technology can be leveraged to solve complex business problems. Leverages strong connections with stakeholders to anticipate their emerging priorities; ensures the organization adapts accordingly. Proven leadership experience, including the ability to grow, mentor and manage talent. Experience and intuition needed to serve as a highly visible, collaborative advisor to management teams and other stakeholders. Fast-paced, dynamic environment with new tasks changing daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly. Travel required (2x a month for corporate weeks for non-local candidates).
