VP Clinical Services, Hospice
Overview Responsible for the oversight of patient safety practices, quality outcomes and outstanding patient experience for the assigned region in coordination with other enterprise and regional clinical leaders ensuring national care standards and evidence-based practices. Responsibilities Develops, implements, and evaluates clinical programming/ innovations, patient safety, quality, and patient experience improvement initiatives to achieve outcomes excellence and market distinction. Maintains an effective performance improvement program and ensures clinicians benefit from learning. Implements, analyzes, and consults on clinical education programs to ensure high performing clinicians are recruited and retained. Regularly evaluates and reports on process adherence, clinical programming, quality trends, patient safety, and clinician professional development to regional and enterprise leadership. Provides input for clinician selection and use of established selection criteria; ensure effective new hire orientation, in-service training, continuing education, ongoing competency validation practices and clinician- focused professional development for the effective delivery of clinical programs. Leads the region in establishing safety practices, oversees reported occurrences, tracks trends and implements appropriate corrective action plans. Supports the region in established enterprise service recovery practices. Maintains up to date knowledge of changes and impacts on clinical operations for all federal/state regulatory/policies and assesses the clinicians' understanding of the new changes. Provides education, best practice sharing and data analysis for regional leadership to help drive and improve regional and enterprise performance. Ensures the highest level of compliance across the region by managing all audit related findings/action plans in collaboration with compliance, assurance services and clinical regulatory. Recommends changes to enterprise clinical policies and procedures as necessary. Consults with Business Development on marketing materials to support and educate referral sources on company's clinical distinction focus. Assists in identifying and fostering key referral partnerships. Assists Area Vice Presidents, Clinical and/or Director of Operations in developing action plans to ensure programs/processes implemented meet specific identified objectives for support activities and responds to negative trends in performance metrics to resolve local issues. Active membership and participation in specific local, state and national organizations to ensure organizational visibility, participation in research activities and innovation in the hospice/palliative care industry. Monitors and evaluates employee performance. Holds employees accountable for the attainment of defined goals and objectives. Executes effective performance redirection when needed. Develops employees through coaching, mentoring, and formal/on the job training and development opportunities. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Ten (10+) years' experience in hospice operations, clinical leadership and healthcare management or equivalent experience. Current and unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in region assigned to work. Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field. Preferred Master's degree preferred. Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - Clinical Nurse Specialist/ Nurse Practitioner National certification in area of expertise. Amedisys is an equal opportunity employer.
