Overview Why Corporate Tax at GM Financial? Our Purpose: We pioneer the innovations that move and connect people to what matters The VP Corporate Tax will manage all aspects of our global tax organization. You will contribute at both firsthand and strategic levels. This role will be responsible for managing the Company's initiatives across the tax function, including oversight of tax operations, planning, controversy, financial reporting, compliance, sales and use tax, property tax, and unclaimed property. This role requires an elevated level of solving problems, excellent communication skills, strong business acumen and the ability to lead high performing teams and manage multiple functions in a fast-paced global environment. Responsibilities About the Role: Provide strategic direction and tactical support on tax matters across the organization within GMF and GM to collaborate on significant tax issues affecting the Company's operations inside the US and Canada Communicate risks and opportunities to Parent Senior Tax Leadership and Executive leadership Support tax leaders and team members, which includes global tax, global provision, compliance, controversy, sales and use, property tax, unclaimed property, and planning Develop and support effective processes and technologies to support continued growth and scalability Actively engage in quarterly financial reporting processes and advise on the impact of federal and state transactions on the global tax provision Monitor significant tax legislation and developments and advise of the impact on the Company's taxes Perform other duties as assigned and conform with all company policies and procedures Reports to Senior Vice President of Tax Qualifications What makes you an ideal candidate? You have advanced knowledge of GAAP for income taxes (ASC 740) and Contingencies (ASC 450) You have experience leading, managing, developing, scaling, and motivating a high performing diverse team across global regions You have experience influencing stakeholders in a highly collaborative manner across a variety of business functions and geographies Education Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related work experience required Master’s Degree in Taxation preferred Experience 12+ years experience in a complex tax environment in a growing organization required 7+ years experience in a management or leadership role required Licenses CPA Certified Public Accountant preferred What We Offer: Generous benefits package available on day one to include: 401K matching, bonding leave for new parents (12 weeks, 100% paid), tuition assistance, training, GM employee auto discount, community service pay and nine company holidays.
