VP/Director of Finance
Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a VP/Director of Finance to join our team. This role is crucial in overseeing various financial operations within the municipal sector. Responsibilities • Oversee payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions • Prepare, monitor, and reassess the annual budget and future financial projections • Manage the maintenance of fiscal records and facilitate the annual financial audit • Compile financial information for GAAP reporting and prepare monthly financial reports for City Council • Execute monthly reconciliation of cash/investments to fund balance and oversee investments • Ensure appropriate cash flow for City bank accounts • Maintain the City’s Chart of Accounts and prepare appropriation resolutions as needed • Collaborate with the Law Director on preparation of resolutions relating to contracts, salaries, and other financial related matters • Attend Finance meetings and participate in month-end close activities • Administer Human Resources (HR) related task Requirements • Proven experience in Accounts Payable (AP) management, ensuring all financial obligations are met in a timely manner. • Strong knowledge and understanding of budget processes, along with the ability to forecast and plan for future financial needs. • Prior experience working within municipalities or county government, demonstrating an understanding of the unique financial requirements and constraints in these environments. • Proficiency in month-end close activities, ensuring all financial records are accurately maintained and updated. • Solid background in Human Resources (HR) Administration, with the ability to manage payroll, benefits, and other employee-related financial matters. • Leadership skills and the ability to oversee a team, providing guidance and direction as needed. • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and make informed decisions. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to a variety of audiences, from team members to board members. • Advanced proficiency in financial software and reporting tools. • Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field required; Master's degree or equivalent detail oriented experience preferred.
