VP/Director of Finance
Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Director of Finance based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This role is pivotal in our organization, focusing on the development of accounting policies, maintaining the integrity of our accounting system, and ensuring compliance with record retention requirements. You will also manage the annual budget, handle grant and contract reporting, and oversee daily accounting activities. Responsibilities • Cultivate and document accounting policies to fortify internal controls. • Uphold the reliability of the accounting system while complying with record retention necessities. • Construct and oversee the annual budget. • Handle reporting for grants and contracts. • Execute daily accounting tasks, including general ledger, cash receipts, disbursements, and monitoring of accounts receivable and payable. • Process bi-weekly payroll for employees and payments for independent contractors. • Manage cash and credit card transactions and perform monthly reconciliations. • Prepare workpapers that support the monthly close process, including monthly financial reports and supporting documents for the Financial Committee. • Analyze financial data and summarize the financial status for regular reporting to the Board • Prepare and provide documentation for external audits, complying with generally accepted accounting principles. • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies. • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings. Requirements • Bachelor degree in accounting or finance or management • Proven expertise in managing accounting functions, including the ability to streamline and improve processes. • Nonprofit accounting experience • Experience in handling Accounts Payable (AP) and ensuring timely and accurate payments. • Demonstrated ability to prepare, manage, and execute an annual budget. • Proficiency in conducting financial audits, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. • Strong understanding and experience with budget processes, including planning, tracking, and reporting.
