VP - Global Transportation
Support Center - Irving

You will be responsible for leading the Global Transportation team at Michaels, and developing transportation strategies, structures, and relationships to support Michaels business model and drive transportation process efficiencies.

Major Activities

Create and execute strategies to improve transportation productivity and reduce freight costs while improving business profitability.Be a key strategic partner for senior executive team in developing long-range strategies to support business growth globally; most specifically related to transportation & trade.Stay ahead of industry trends and strategies, understanding current events and potential risks in various channels and countries in which Michaels does business.Benchmark and utilize tools and systems to drive transportation processes.Own trade and regulatory import/export compliance.Own transportation annual budget.Lead the development and execution of strategies continuously creating and driving transportation efficiencies.Lead Transportation team members to ensure timely delivery of all shipments either from Sourced Vendors or Distribution Centers and expedite issue resolution.Serve as a relationship manager with Michaels leadership team to optimize transportation processes being implemented.Provide leadership and support to team members, allowing for growth and development, increasing team strength and value to the company.Other duties as assigned
 

Minimum Education

Bachelors Degree


Minimum Type of experience the job requires

20+ years' experience in a Domestic and International Transportation retail environmentExperience in negotiating, operations, and leading large teams and/or managers of peopleDirect PL planning and management responsibilityWorking knowledge of international and domestic freight movement practices and procedures


Preferred Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Intl. Business, Logistics or equivalent experience

Preferred Special Certifications or technical skills

Licensed Customs Broker and TMS knowledge
