Overview: The VP of Corporate Development will play a pivotal role in driving Braze’s strategic growth initiatives. This executive will lead the identification, evaluation, and execution of mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and other strategic investments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate development, strategic planning, and financial analysis, particularly within the SaaS and technology sectors. This role reports directly to the SVP of Growth and will work closely with the executive team.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Execution: Develop and execute the corporate development strategy to support the company's growth objectives. Identify and evaluate potential M&A targets, strategic investments, and partnership opportunities that align with the company’s strategic goals. Deal Sourcing and Management: Lead the sourcing, negotiation, and execution of M&A transactions and strategic investments. Manage the end-to-end deal process, including due diligence, valuation, structuring, negotiation, and integration. Develop and maintain relationships with investment banks, venture capital firms, and other key stakeholders. Market and Competitive Analysis: Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential threats. Provide strategic insights and recommendations to the executive team. Financial Analysis and Modeling: Perform detailed financial modeling, valuation analysis, and scenario planning for potential transactions. Prepare and present investment memos and board presentations. Cross-functional Leadership: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, product, and operations, to ensure seamless execution of corporate development initiatives. Lead post-merger integration efforts to ensure the successful realization of deal synergies. Team Development: Build and lead a high-performing corporate development team. Mentor and develop team members to enhance their skills and career growth.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree preferred. 12+ years of experience in corporate development, investment banking, private equity, or a related field, with a focus on the SaaS and technology sectors. Proven track record of successfully leading and executing M&A transactions and strategic investments. Strong financial acumen and experience with financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence. Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Exceptional negotiation and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders. Strong leadership and team management experience.Working Conditions:
This role may require occasional travel for meetings, conferences, and due diligence activities.For candidates based in the United States, the pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $260,000 and $286,000/year with an expected On Target Earnings (OTE) between $400,000 and $440,000/year (including bonus or commission). Your exact offer may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to cash compensation, Braze offers full- and part- time employees a comprehensive Total Rewards package that includes equity grants of restricted stock (RSUs) so that all Braze employees own a piece of our company.
