VP of Wealth Management - Single Family Office
Robert Half Finance & Accounting
Description
If interested, please apply here and also ping me on LinkedIn at Jeffrey Abrams, thank you.
We are hiring an experienced finance and wealth management professional to join our lean family office team. Our team oversees investing, portfolio management, operations, startup incubation, estate planning, a charitable foundation, and a $1bn+ family office started by a dynamic technology entrepreneur (the “principal”). The family office is based in San Francisco and is looking for Bay Area based candidates with the ability to come into the office five days per week. The VP will be a key advisor to our principal and will be responsible for managing the family office’s internal and outsourced finance functions. The needs of our family office are dynamic and constantly evolving, so our VP will also regularly spearhead new initiatives and projects.
Key responsibilities include:
● Help set and manage investment, portfolio creation, and finance strategy using estate planning in conjunction with the Principal
● Develop and implement financial planning with the Principal
● Communicate strategic plan, risks, tradeoffs, with the Principal
● Oversee all investments, liquidity needs, cash flows, financial reporting and tax accounting
● Maintains appropriate risk management and internal controls in coordination with Family Office Controller
● Identifies and implements system development improvements
● Efficiently manage a lean internal team (1-2 direct reports) and a group of A+ external back office, tax, legal, estate planning, charitable organization compliance and other vendors
Who You Are
● You’re a highly motivated self-starter who is excellent at setting priorities and managing dynamic projects. You take direction on projects from the Principal and “own” the outcomes
● You are comfortable moving quickly from the “big picture” to minute details, and back again
● You don’t just work with numbers, you live by them. Pivot tables, index-matching, and VBA are all in your toolkit
● You have a low ego. No task is too big or too small
● You have 5+ years of experience working with high-net-worth individuals, ideally in a small family office
● You get excited about new emerging technology and trends. You’re always consuming (and maybe, producing) news from places like Twitter, the latest AI book, HackerNews, podcasts, etc.
Requirements
● 8-12 years of directly relevant experience is required
● Undergraduate degree from a top school
● An MBA, CPA, CFA, or advanced degree in a related field is preferred
● Should be tech-savvy with knowledge of current and evolving technology trends and platforms
● Should have top-tier investing, accounting, risk management, and financial planning skills
● Valued qualities include entrepreneurship, creativity, honesty, integrity, credibility, professionalism, and dedication.
● No ego; no task is too big or too small.
● You are excellent at setting priorities and managing dynamic projects. We have a bias towards self-starters who happily take direction on projects from the principal and “own” the outcomes.
