**General Counsel’s Organization:**
Where great legal minds influence global business strategy.
As a member of the Global Technology, Cybersecurity, Procurement and Real Estate Law Group of the General Counsel’s Organization, the Vice President & Senior Counsel – Cybersecurity will provide legal support to business and legal colleagues related to global cybersecurity legal issues.
**Role & Responsibilities:**
+ Collaborate with colleagues around the world on cutting edge technology and cybersecurity risks.
+ Develop and lead team providing legal support and strategic cybersecurity advice to the Technology Risk & Information Security organization, legal colleagues and business clients on a global basis.
+ Serve as a trusted advisor to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), second line and audit functions.
+ Lead legal response efforts for cybersecurity incidents and engage in readiness planning, crisis response plan development and exercise planning, including board-level exercises. Delegate and oversee team responsibilities during incidents.
+ Support key cybersecurity programs, including teams supporting insider threat, data loss prevention, red team activities, security operation center cybersecurity investigations, cyber threat intelligence and information sharing partnerships, vulnerability management, and responsible disclosure.
+ Support global regulatory examinations and communicate directly with regulators.
+ Guide team in support of product development and new product launches, including conducting legal reviews of authentication and security controls, marketing claims and terms and conditions.
+ Develop strategy for and advise on cybersecurity insurance issues.
+ Engage in lobbying and compliance efforts for global cybersecurity requirements, including developing relationships with government affairs colleagues, trade associations and industry groups to develop regulatory harmonization and information sharing strategies.
+ Assist in the development of American Express strategy and policies related to technology and cybersecurity and public disclosures around cybersecurity risks and program measures.
+ Oversee preparation and delivery of internal training on legal cyber security issues.
+ Ensure team builds and maintains positive working relationships across the legal department, business and technology teams and build relationships with external industry and trade groups.
+ Implement and improve methods for legal knowledge management within the team and foster a collaborative team culture.
**Qualifications:**
**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ J.D. with eligibility to practice law in New York.
+ 8 years of work experience involving cybersecurity issues in a law firm and/or in-house corporate legal environment.
+ Demonstrated people leadership with proven track record of leading high performing team.
+ Significant experience with global legal requirements and guidance related to cybersecurity, including the Gramm Leach Bliley Act (GLBA); Federal Financial Institution Examination Council (FFIEC) guidance; state privacy, security and data breach notification laws; New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) Cybersecurity Rule; General Data Protection Directive (GDPR); SEC cyber disclosure rules; Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards; Interagency Guidance on Risk Management.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Strong interest and/or experience in digital products and emerging technology.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to communicate complex issues clearly and persuasively.
+ Demonstrated experience effectively communicating with regulators.
+ Demonstrated experience in gaining credibility, managing expectations, and developing strong working relationships with legal colleagues and clients.
**Qualifications**
Salary Range: $220,000.00 to $320,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
