Vulnerability Model Development Intern
This role is part of Aon Impact Forecasting team, a team of scientists, developers and client services colleagues together developing and supporting catastrophe models for various perils including flood, windstorm, earthquake, wildfire or terrorism.
We are seeking a technically skilled candidate for the development of catastrophe models, with a particular focus on flood vulnerability!
What the day will look like
+ Study concepts and review scientific literature on flood vulnerability and property damage quantification.
+ Collect, sort, and compare vulnerability functions, assess their physical characteristics, and impact on financial loss estimates.
+ Analyze individual insurance claims for vulnerability calibration.
+ Manage data in spreadsheets and databases.
+ Collaborate with model developers and colleagues.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
+ University student of civil/structural engineering.
+ Technical approach, ability to quickly learn new things and concepts.
+ Proficient communication skills in English.
+ Knowledge of scripting or programming language to automate tasks (R, Python, or others), basics of SQL or other relational database as well as GIS/CAD is a plus.
