Warehouse Associate

Documents inbound and outbound receipts with necessary information for tracking purposes. Verifies the accuracy and specifications of shipments received and delivered, clarifying discrepancies with the Purchasing Department or other departments as needed. Enters shipment information into an electronic materials management system, ensuring accuracy, and may produce reports as required. Responds to requests for special handling of furniture and equipment, determining the safest and most effective methods for moving these items. Enters serial numbers, repair information, and asset tag records into an electronic database for tracking purposes. Answers inquiries regarding expected shipments and deliveries of equipment and supplies, both in writing and via telephone. Wraps, boxes, and prepares pallets, carts, and other items for shipment and delivery, positioning them optimally for transport. Delivers and picks up furniture, equipment, and other items to and from the warehouse. Transports bio-hazardous materials in accordance with safety and security guidelines. May handle and transport pharmaceutical medications, limited to storing and moving within the facility and off-site locations. Monitors and observes the condition and maintenance of trucks, vehicles, and equipment, performing minor maintenance as necessary. Receives and verifies the accuracy of goods received, stocks shelves accordingly, and rotates stock regularly per guidelines. Maintains assigned stock storage areas, reporting unusual turnover to management. May train less-experienced staff in various warehouse functions and serve as a backup during staff absences or special needs. Responds to callback requests during warehouse closures when other departments need products. Performs other related duties as required or requested. Required Experience

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in a distribution center within the healthcare industry is highly preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

Must be an OSHA-certified forklift operator. On-site, hands-on training will be provided by the department leader to meet this requirement.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Basic math and personal computer skills, including data entry into electronic databases and reading computer-generated reports. Ability to multi-task and work flexibly in various areas, including shipping/receiving, driving, and warehouse tasks. Performs a variety of materials and equipment movement, receiving, and driving duties to support the warehouse. Must possess a valid Class C Illinois Driver’s License or obtain one within the first 90 days. Must meet the acceptable driver standards according to the Memorial Health Fleet Safety Policy (a five-year Motor Vehicle Report [MVR] will be required). Previous experience operating warehouse equipment and motorized vehicles (e.g., forklifts, trucks, pallet jacks) safely and correctly. Successful completion of the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) physical examination.
