Summary

The Warehouse Associate should be familiar with all areas of the fork truck driving procedures for safely loading and unloading trucks to maintain efficient, safe operations. The Warehouse Associate I is responsible for all order picking, order verification and loading of customer or carriers' vehicles in a safe manner. The ideal candidate thrives in environments where safety, quality, service and cost are the highest priorities.

Essential Duties

Position includes receiving materials, preparing shipments, loading trucks, and tracking inventory.

Practices incident and accident prevention, demonstrating safe behavior in all activities

Obtains and maintains fork-truck certification by attending in-house training, and completes daily fork truck check sheets

Ability to learn to troubleshoot work related issues and communicates issues with maintenance, and Shipping Lead

Drives the fork truck safely through the warehouse mindful of pedestrian traffic at all times and is responsible for housekeeping in his/her work areas

Prioritizes work assignments by meeting with Shipping Lead every morning and throughout the day

Ability to learn the cycle counting events and participates when needed, able to adjust schedule to meet inventory deadlines

Ships according to FIFO principles on all items in the warehouse to ensure shelf-life efficacy

Prepares product for shipping by reviewing the packing slip, hand picking the product and assembling the pallet

Arranges pallets on flatbeds according to weight restrictions and collaborates with driver to receive input when loading

Ensures correct product delivery by reviewing packing slip and product on truck

Stretch wraps accessory pallets by placing pallets on turntable, adjusting height and tension

Verifies product quantity for shipment and receiving by counting and signing Picking Slip and Bill of Lading and/or using current warehouse management system

Learns safety hazards and job procedures by reading and understanding job safety analysis (JSA)

Suggests improvements in work methods and procedures by communicating to Logistics Manager

Works safely when loading and unloading van trailers; uses dock locks and chocks to hold trailer steady when going in and out

Learns hazardous material safety for spills and transporting material; earns HAZMAT certification or HAZMAT Dock Worker certification (whichever is appropriate) and keeps current

Obtains and maintains forklift certification by attending in house training

Performs other duties as instructed by the Logistics Manager

Daily review of email and department communication; maintains a good attendance record

Maintains a positive working relationship with all plant employees and other business contacts

Uses process improvement tools to drive continuous improvement of the plant and business processes

Trained to adhere and document Hazardous Materials Transportation Guidelines as applicable for all shipments

Observe what needs to be done and take initiative to perform this work

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

Must continuously have the ability to differentiate colors precisely

Required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch

Ability to perform detailed testing processes in various process conditions

Frequent use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling the use of manufacturing equipment and machinery

Ability to read and concentrate via computer data entry typing and proofreading

Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds

High school diploma or GED

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a fast paced, logistics manufacturing environment

Experience supporting logistics, customer care and business goals

Basic knowledge of computer programs to include e-mail, internet, and Excel spreadsheet programs.

Intermediate communication and basic math skills.

Strong attention to detail and teamwork skills required.

Ability to locate information quickly and efficiently, as well as good observation skills, is strongly preferred.
