Warehouse Specialist- Temp

Overview:


As directed, performs a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishment's storage plan. Also, performs clerical and physical tasks in connection with warehousing and shipping goods of the establishment in which employed and received incoming shipments.

Primary Responsibilities:


•    Verifying materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages
•    Routing materials to prescribed storage locations
•    Storing, stacking, or palletizing materials i2939n accordance with prescribed storage methods
•    Rearranging and taking inventory of stored materials
•    Examining stored materials and reporting deterioration and damage
•    Removing material from storage and preparing it for shipment.
•    Perform, as well as operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties.
•    Perform day-to-day, routine tasks, and follows established guidelines.
•    Handle unusual non-routine problems, and receives specific guidance from the supervisor or other officials.
•    May direct and coordinate the activities of other workers engaged in handling goods to be shipped or received.
•    Make preventive maintenance adjustments to related equipment.
Warehousing and shipping duties typically involve the following:
•    Verifying that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipment against documents
•    Ensuring that incoming and outgoing materials are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles
•    Preparing and keeping records of goods shipped, e.g., manifests, bills of lading
•    Receiving duties typically involve the following:
•    Verifying the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records
•    Checking for damaged goods, ensuring that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the establishment
•    Preparing and keeping records of goods received.
•    Perform all other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

There are no supervisory duties associated with this position.


Education and/or Experience:


•    High School Diploma or GED required
•    One (1) year of experience performing specific functions


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


•    Proficient in the use of the Distribution Standard System (DSS) and other automated distribution systems used at the site.
•    Proficient with Microsoft Suite products including, Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook software.
•    Demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a team.
•    Ability to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects, and have strong attention to detail.
•    Ability to acquire a license to use Material Handling Equipment (MHE).

Security Clearance:


SECRET Level Required
•    Must have a current US Government SECRET Personnel Security Clearance or be able to complete a U.S. government-administered Investigation.
•    Must be a U.S. Citizen.
•    Must also be able to maintain a US Government SECRET clearance.

The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

Works in shop/warehouse environment. Work involves repetitive motions and standing for long periods of time. Work is of a physical nature and requires the incumbent be able to lift 50 lbs overhead and/or repetitively.
