Job DescriptionWarehouse SupervisorSpecific Duties:

Fully involved with local management team.  Provides technical input, solutions and options on improving productivity/efficiencies and product quality relating to shipping and receiving activities.

Directly supervises and trains the warehouse coordinators, shift leads and shift forklift operators to ensure a skilled workforce.  Assesses skills and recommends or provides training to ensure department personnel are competent in warehouse procedures/policies and department goals are met.

Administers all plant rules, programs, and procedures that apply to hourly employees.

Maintains standards of quality to meet customer and internal specifications.  Strives for continuous improvement in quality performance through proper training, good communication, effective leadership/supervision, and follow-up with all members of the shift.

Maintains safe working conditions throughout the plant by taking corrective action on unsafe conditions or acts.  May serve as a member of the Plant Safety Committee.  Implements all approved safety recommendations, and insures compliance with established safety standards, including forklift certification, hearing conservation, and other programs required by law and/or management.

Responsible for overseeing forklift lease and repair maintenance program.  Ensures equipment meets required safety regulations and repair work is completed and documented.

Conducts monthly safety meetings with shift.

Effectively handles employee complaints, suggestions, questions, and conflicts in accordance with the guidelines established in the Employee Handbook and in accordance with company policies/procedures.  Maintains employee morale and discipline through fairness and impartiality.

Assists in the review of labor and materials costs as they relate to operations.  Analyzes, pursues, and recommends methods for reducing these costs.

Coordinates the implementation of any approved material or method changes.  Responsible for communicating these changes to assigned personnel and follows-up to insure understanding and proper implementation.

Keeps current on technical developments and changes in order to appraise or make recommendations to management and supervisors and to instruct and train employees.

Schedules delivery of supplies for the production area to include preforms, tier sheets, top frames, pallets, boxes, and labels as necessary through Forklift Drivers.  Maintains inventory of these supplies based on projected usage and informs Materials Manager of what is necessary to order.

Maintains accurate reports of all daily shipments of finished goods to customers and freight bills of lading.

Responsible for all operational equipment in the warehouse area including forklifts, trailers, and dock doors.  Communicates with vendors and negotiates maintenance cost to ensure equipment is in safe, working order on an ongoing basis and at the most cost effective rates.

Supervises staff to develop and maintain unloading and organized storage of raw materials area to include preforms, labels, top frames, tier sheets, and pallets.

Responsible for the following SAP functions: proper ticketing of finished goods and raw materials, cycle counting, inventory control and reconciliation, HFI coordination and tracking.

Responsible for administrative duties such as keeping track of employees time (Kronos), Vacation (both Kronos/FMS), and corrective actions when necessary.

Performs other related assignments that may be required by the Materials Manager.

Directs the manufacturing and material handling activities on a given shift.  Ensures employees are performing tasks in accordance with safety policies.  Trains and supervises hourly employees in these activities; administers plant rules and procedures; recommends employees and candidates for hire, promotion, demotion, transfer, disciplinary action and/or termination. Effectively manages the work schedule within the department to prevent idle time and provides for the optimal use of personnel, machinery, and material.  This includes the proper use of any established work standards and incentive plans. Maintains standards of quality to meet customer and internal specifications.  Strives for continuous improvement in quality performance through proper training, good communication, effective leadership/supervision, and follow-up with all members of the shift. Effectively handles employee complaints, suggestions, questions, and conflicts in accordance with the guidelines established in the Employee Handbook and in accordance with company policies/procedures.  Maintains employee morale and discipline through fairness and impartiality. Responsible for monitoring and approving employee hours worked using the Kronos timekeeping system Responsible for completing shift pass-down and accurately reporting of shift activities. Assists in the review of labor and manufacturing costs as they relate to production.  Analyzes, pursues, and recommends methods for reducing these costs. Coordinates the implementation of any approved material or method changes.  Responsible for communicating these changes to production personnel and follows-up to insure understanding and proper implementation. Keeps current on technical developments and changes in order to appraise or make recommendations to management and supervisors and to instruct and train employees. Performs other related duties as request by the Production Manager, Operations Manager, and/or Plant Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Required:

Minimum of two years of college, prefer Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management.

Experience Required:

Minimum of three years experience in a supervisory warehouse position, preferably in plastics manufacturing.

Must be able to communicate quickly and effectively with all members of the shift as well as with management, customers and vendors.

Must be capable of managing and training all members of the shift on an on-going basis.
