Warehouse Supervisor

Position Description

Primary Purpose:

Warehouse Operations:

Accountable for the planning and oversight of the warehouse functions, including critical spare inventory management, project staging, and investment recoveryManage operations of warehouse including staff, facilities and equipmentManage warehouse budget preparation and monthly variance reportingActively track quarterly scorecard data for warehouseMeet with Operations, Project Management, and Engineering on a regular basis

Inventory Management:

Develop strategy for inventory stocking levels for warehouse by leveraging items across locations and understanding the business need for spare parts on handIn collaboration with Operations, work to reduce excess inventory across supporting areasSupport all required inventory accounting and month-end activityAssist in Lawson technology direction as it applies to all inventory functions such as item master set up, warehouse setup, and inventory reporting and trainingAccountable for annual physical inventory counts, as well as resolving variancesWork on inventory requirements associated with acquisition integration and divestures, including account mapping and inventory accounting training

Surplus and Idle Assets Disposition:

Actively support corporate strategy for the sales and redeployments of surplus material throughout Kinder MorganAct as a liaison between the Business Unit and the Online Auction Company

Project Support:

In collaboration with Project Management, develop plans and manage project material stagingCoordinate loading out of project materials with construction contractors, freight carriers and/or Project SupportSupport the company’s disaster response activities including sourcing material and logistics

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Demonstrate knowledge of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), the accounting process, accounting practices related to inventory and surplus sales transactionsDrive efforts to standardize general accounting processesApply and enforce standards and processes consistentlyApply advanced investment recovery practices and approachesPerform duties with strict adherence to Kinder Morgan’s Corporate PolicyInfluence business decisions and demonstrate leadership skillsEnsure team is properly trained on policies and procedures. Mentor and train less experienced team membersLead the Procurement process and application of Kinder Morgans ethical guidelines Promote Procurement and administration services throughout the organizationPossess advanced knowledge of Procurement, Investment Recovery, and Inventory Management policies and proceduresHelp set and drive the corporate standard, develop procedures and set schedules for the performance of physical inventories, cycle counts, and inventory auditsCalculate and analyze financial metricsPerform analysis of complex projectsAnalyze actual results to understand variances and revise projections as applicableManage the submission of monthly accruals and journal entries for teamPerform monthly, quarterly, and yearly adhoc reporting, as requiredSupervise and support department budget preparation, monthly variance reporting and projectsProvide monthly close analysis with insights into financial performance.Identify and investigate significant variancesMonitor and manage inventory levels, ensure appropriate levels are maintained by tracking return rates and conduct physical auditsMonitor team's maintenance and support of the Lawson Item MasterLead discussions with Project Management and Operations to locate needed materials throughout Kinder Morgan as well as cross-functional teams to identify process flow efficiencies and develop standardized proceduresAssist Operations in identifying surplus and obsolete inventoryWork on inventory requirements associated with acquisition integration and divestitures, including account mapping and inventory accounting trainingWork with field personnel on a routine basis to set and track minimum and maximum inventory levelsPerform analysis of inventory mix, production demand and interface regarding levels of inventoryAssign and manage progress of special projects assigned to team membersInterpret and implement significant details from reports on issues regarding consumer trends and spendingImplement and enforce process improvement initiatives to improve inventory accuracy and ensure best practicesDevelop training materials on inventory procedures, the Inventory Audit Policy, and Investment Recovery PolicyCoordinate, assign and monitor field-conducted inventory auditsDrive inventory level improvements through the implementation of projects with cross functional teamsFacilitate surplus sales and re-deployments throughout Kinder MorganAct as a liaison between the Business Unit and the Investment Recovery CompanyWork with internal and external customers to achieve annual investment recovery goalExecute Purchase Agreements and Bills of SaleEnsure completeness and accuracy of orders for project materials delivered to staging warehouseAssist buyers and vendors with complex material order issuesProvide timely updates to Project Management on project material statusResolve any material discrepancies, shortages or damagesEnsure product moves seamlesslyCoordinate loading out of project materials with construction contractors, freight carriers and/or Project SupportSupervise the operation of forklifts, vehicles, and equipmentOperate under safety, environmental and ethical guidelinesLead system upgrade projects as well as other group projectsEnsure that team members operate under safety, environmental and ethical guidelines  Interface with Property Accounting to ensure accurate accounting of capital inventoryWork closely with warehouse personnel, IT and other business units to provide inventory module support and inventory audit issuesDevelop and maintain a positive working relationship with internal and external customersWork with the Tax Department as needed to provide data for ad valorem tax fillings.Perform benchmark analysisAct as the department liaison to Procurement and Administration Finance team

Position Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

High School Diploma or GED requiredA bachelor's degree in business, engineering, accounting, supply chain management or related discipline is preferred

Experience/Specific Knowledge:

7+ years of experience in warehousing, logistics, materials management, purchasing, operations, engineering or related field is preferredProven knowledge of materials such as pipe, valves and fittingsNatural Gas Compressor/engine/turbocharger knowledge is preferredProficiency in Microsoft Applications including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurersMust meet the criteria to maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) as required by USCG/DHS regulations

Physical Demands:

Working Conditions:

Travel may be required across a broad geographic region, as determined by Hiring Manager and business needsMay be required to carry a company provided cell phone and respond as needed during working and non-working hoursMust be required to work non-traditional hours as neededMust be available to respond to callouts as assignedPerform work in dusty environment and all types of temperature/weather conditions
