About the role Responsible for the establishment of personnel, processes and techniques necessary to effectively advance product to customer specification throughout all phases and areas of the operation and to efficiently monitor and make continuous improvements to each factor contributing to the success of the organization. Responsibilities Build a strong, flexible, cross-trained and developed department by selective interviewing, hiring, training, rewarding, coaching, documenting, promoting, disciplining and recommending for termination as necessary personnel within the department Plan, organize and deploy manpower on a daily basis to meet operational targets and when appropriate, make suggestions and changes necessary to enhance productivity and exceed operational goals On a daily basis, consistently meet 24-hour order turn/order receipt by continuously looking outside the department and maintaining creativity in achievement of this goal Establish and promote safe, productive procedures, train and enforce their consistent implementation, provide retraining as necessary, follow-up to ensure productivity standards are consistently met Delegate authority and responsibility as appropriate to subordinates and follow-up to ensure completion of assignments in a timely manner Through cooperation with Inventory and Quality personnel, establish and enforce quality standards, require compliance from all subordinates on a daily basis, monitor and report departmental quality and productivity to superiors Accurately evaluate both departmental and employee performance in a timely manner, through the established company evaluation processes, providing clear measurable goals and expectations and ensure achievement of same Provide counseling, training and/or retraining where required Through cooperation with Safety personnel, provide and document equipment training, report mechanical failures, equipment usage and wear on a daily basis Consistently promote improved efficiencies company-wide by expecting from each employee a combination of reduced waste, refined quality, increased productivity and excellent housekeeping skills Cooperate with all peers to establish and maintain a high level of morale with the facility and throughout the company by promoting a teamwork environment Cooperate and encourage all peers in support of their efforts and assist where appropriate in the accomplishment of their goals Personally comply with, and enforce on a daily basis, all company policies, procedures, rules and requirements Personally ensure maintenance of a clean, well-groomed and efficient work environment that is completely free of damaged or non-useable materials This requires proper redirecting of excess materials, immediate removal of trash, unsafe or damaged pallets, plastic wrap, used cartons or any other discrepancy that would distract from the most efficient possible use of available work space This also includes repackaging of product found to be in damaged cartons, re-stacking and organization of pallets, and continuous optimum organization of all racks, staging lanes and aisle-ways Additional duties may be assigned Additional Job Functions (NC): Supervises consignment inventory and ensures utilization in a timely manner Oversees scrap materials and coordinates scrap sales with dealers Determines space requirements and position of shipment in trucks and lays out position of shipment Ensures accurate inventory audits are performed on a regularly scheduled basis Qualifications Working knowledge of facility automation and equipment Intermediate proficiency of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Familiarity with Oracle ERP applications, preferred The work environment and physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions Has or will possess advanced abilities in, and knowledge of, all duties outlined above, and the ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing Must have excellent sight, hearing and verbal communication skills both in person and on the telephone, along with the eye, hand and body coordination necessary to efficiently operate or repair any assigned equipment Must be able to lift 70 pounds, walk from location to location, sit, stand, lift, bend, stoop, push, pull, reach and/or climb Education & Experience Some college level coursework or a minimum of 5 years prior leadership or training experience in an automated distribution environment or related industry Working knowledge of the facility, including automation, equipment, AS400 and P.C. literate Must be certified in powered lift equipment operation and be able to qualify as an internal Certified Trainer What We Offer Comprehensive benefits include: Medical, dental, and vision insurance programs 401K plans with employer-matching contributions Tuition reimbursement PTO Paid holidays Volunteer time off For more information about benefits, please go to: https://careers.leviton.com/benefits Leviton is an EEO/AA Employer.
