ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Oversees and monitors day-to-day operation of assigned area(s) including work flow, management of work in process, job assignments, rotations, etc. to insure smooth flow and efficient operations. Ensures the shift accurately and efficiently completes all outbound shipments and raw materials and finished product are stored and handled according to Good Manufacturing Practices. Supervises all outbound shipments, including NOW Foods deliveries and customer pickups, determining proper method of shipment, refrigeration or ambient when necessary. Prepares receiving reports, shipping documents, bills of lading, and returned goods authorizations; distributes various documents retaining a copy in most cases. Records damaged items and transfers documents and explanations to manager. Supervises all stocking, storage and rotation of finished goods, bulk items and packing supplies. As requested, moves materials stored from warehouse to Production, Order Fulfillment, and other departments. Provides and verifies materials requested by Production for proper reconciliation. Ensures raw materials are received and approved in compliance with the Supplier Approval Program and the Receiving Inspection procedures. Ensures raw materials and finished product traceability is maintained. Ensures finished product is shipped in compliance with specification. Ensures shipping orders are completed and delivered to the customer on time. Produces and reviews daily reports for operational review, efficiencies and other data; provides shipping and receiving reports and information to manager and other designated personnel as required. Validates with Operations proper finished good counts match what is in Oracle for proper reconciliation to avoid variances. Maintains department quality records. Takes corrective actions for any deviations found in the department. Advises employees on care and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping stock; and related problems. Ensures key performance indicators in the receiving area are met or exceeded. Measures productivity on a daily basis, with goal of meeting standards. Works with other supervisors to solve common issues while developing working teams across all shifts. Recommends measures to improve receiving methods, equipment performance, and quality. Ensures that policies and procedures for safety and quality are followed and enforced. Actively participates in root cause analysis and other plant continuous improvement initiatives. Recommends continuous improvement ideas. Provides recommendations on how to improve procedures and processes. Supports positive employee relations, fair treatment and respect in all aspects of interaction with employees; address employee concerns/requests in a timely and caring manner; insures all employees and ideas are respected and valued and their unique and diverse perspectives are leveraged to improve business results. Actively engages in the performance of his/her team through setting objectives and measuring performance, with guidance and coaching from manager. Ensures all employees’ PIT licenses are current. Actively participates in Tier II meetings. Consistently adheres to the Core Values of NOW and aligns team’s objectives with operating tenets. Supports a culture of safe production and exhibits safe work practices. Actively participates in the safety program by engaging in safety activities. Effectively provides and accepts constructive peer-to-peer feedback on safety performance. Adheres to policies, procedures, SOP’s, safe work practices, and safety policies and procedures (SPP). Reports ALL workplace incidents to manager immediately. Communicates concerns to manager, reports hazards, and provides input on prevention. Properly uses, wears, and stores Personal Protective Equipment when required. Participates on safety teams and/or completes safety-related activities as part of regular job responsibilities. Responsible for safe work performance in area. Ensures the completion of job safety analyses, safety inspections and employee training. Acts as primary communicator of safe work practices and information to department. Facilitates employees’ participation in the safety activity card program and on safety teams. Completes incident investigation reports and submits them to manager by end of shift on which the incident is reported. Conducts safety contacts and documents corrective and preventative actions. Enforces company policies, procedures, SOP’s, SPP’s and safe work practices.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises Receiving Warehouse employees on the shift. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate’s degree OR at least three years related experience in a food manufacturing or GMP environment OR equivalent combination of education and experience Bachelor’s degree preferred Prior lead experience and/or supervisory experience in an operations environment required Experience in lean operations including 5s and lean practices helpful Intermediate Word and Excel skills requiredLANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Spanish language skills are desirable.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as conversion to and from the metric system, proportions, and percentages.
