Job Overview:

Supervises Warehouse shipping and receiving activities and associates for a specific shift/area to ensure functions are performed within Company and Distribution Center guidelines.  Provides excellent customer service to stores serviced through accurate handling of the inbound and outbound products.

What does it mean to be part of the Warehouse Supervisor Team?

Our Warehouse Supervisor team oversees the daily operations of the warehouse, ensuring that goods are stored, handled, and dispatched efficiently. They are responsible for leading and motivating a fast-paced team, optimizing processes, maintaining safety standards, ensuring inventory accuracy, and utilizing WMS systems for reporting and order management. This role involves coordinating with other departments, overseeing shipping, and receiving activities, and implementing strategies for inventory control. Warehouse Supervisors also ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and legal requirements.  Our supply chain at UNFI is focused on providing superior service, quality and efficiency, improving every day to meet customers’ unique needs. 

Job Responsibilities:

·         Schedules and supervises shipping/receiving associates (crew set up and job assignments)

·         Monitoring and enforcing work rules and policies (Creating and Issuing Discipline)

·         Controls production standards, accuracy of shipments and receiving, using proper accuracy programs and systems (DLX reviews, workload vs labor)

·         Maintains daily production and accuracy records (thru put eval by area)

·         Coordinates with Inventory Control associates regarding slotting, product rotation and space allocation (optimizing slots and space)

·         Communicates with Transportation on the flow and receipt of backhauls

·         Safety Reviews (PIT, Lifting Techniques, etc.)

·         Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Experience:

·         Previous warehouse/logistics Supervisor experience

Knowledge:

·       Strong general knowledge of all warehousing operations

·       Strong leadership abilities, conflict resolution, problem-solving, time management

·       Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately  available. (Legal requirement to add in this language)

·       Employee development, and the ability to adapt to different personalities and situations understanding how to guide and motivate a team while ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to quality standards

Skills/ Abilities:

·       Possess good supervisory skills and the ability to work with and through others to achieve desired results

·       Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to read and interpret computerized reports

·       Have an analytical ability to handle administrative duties and mental alertness to ensure accurate, safe, and thorough completion of work activities.

·       Possess the ability to concentrate and deal with frequent interruptions throughout your day

·       Ability to lift up to 75 lbs continuously throughout shift

·       Basic computer skills required. Microsoft word, excel, and outlook experience preferred

Work Environment:

·         This position requires the associate to perform all duties at one of our UNFI locations, such as a distribution center or office.

Physical Environment/Demands:

·       Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or stand for long periods of time at a computer terminal

·       While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear  

·       Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday

·       Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties. Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation

·       Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist, and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures

·       Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment  

·       Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties.  Ability to operate work-related equipment

·       Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
