Job Summary: Packs merchandise for shipment in prefabricated containers and assists higher graded Warehouse Workers in performing various tasks in connection with the receipt storage and issue of merchandise in a Distribution Center.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Assists higher graded warehouse workers in performing one or more of the following duties

· Receiving. Unloading trucks unpacks and inspects merchandise for damage and against receiving documents for nomenclature quantity etc. Marks and tags items.

· Storage. Warehoused palletized or bulk stock in specified warehouse locations shelves bins etc.

· Issue. Pulls items indicated on transfer documents moves to staging area for loading and shipment.

· Receives loose clothing by means of a conveyer belt or material handling equipment. Removes clothing from conveyer belt with copy of Merchandise Transfer. Packs merchandise in prefabricated container seals and prepares package for shipment.

· Weighs and processes mail to be shipped. Receives shipping manifest attaches to merchandise and places boxes in appropriate staging areas.

· May occasionally operate a forklift in the performance of these duties.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Performs work standing on hard surfaces. Bending and lifting objects up to 100 lbs. with assistance. Performs work outside on a loading dock in a warehouse subject to hot and dusty conditions.

SKILLS REQUIRED: Forklift license

TRAINING REQUIREMENT: Associate must receive Hazardous Material HazMat training within 90 days of hire per Department of Transportation regulations.

May work across multiple departments based upon business needs. The initial assignment is in the Warehouse Department".

This position is covered by National Association of Government Employees, Local R12-29Union Agreement.
