Department Summary:

MITRE’s L142, Simulation, Experimentation, and Gaming Department provides a dynamic and agile workforce to design, develop, and employ simulation and game-based solutions to address our sponsors operational, engineering, and acquisition challenges.  We offer a range of services within this domain from consultation, to designing and running simulation and/or game-based experiments in close collaboration with our sponsors, to developing new tools or integrated engineering environments as part of a system, digital, or digital twin engineering environment.  L142 proudly serves all of the MITRE FFRDCs and we have an active and thriving research and development program within the organization.

Job Description:

Lead multidisciplinary wargaming projects to include wargaming methodology definition, team selection, and execution planning, management, and product deliveryWork directly with sponsor senior leaders to define wargaming requirements and recommend appropriate wargaming methodology to employ (table-top, workshop, board, digitized game, and/or computer simulation environment) for the projectLead the sponsor engagement across the wargaming projectDesign and develop wargames (across the set of wargaming methodologies identified above) for tactical, operational, and strategic military and non-military (e.g., diplomatic, information, economic, disaster response, etc.)) domains based on sponsor requirementsLead, conduct, and participate in pre-exercise, execution, and post-execution activities for wargaming methodologies specified above

Basic Qualifications:

Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 7 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD with 4 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.Bachelor’s degree in engineering, social science, or related technical field such as statistics, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, computer science, or related STEM program.5 years of experience working in government or industry in relevant work areas including: game design / development, web or computer-based game, or simulation developmentActive TS/SCI clearanceStrong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to succinctly capture salient issues and provide seniors with fact-based, actionable and relevant technical solutions and recommendations.This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s or PhD in engineering, social science, or related technical field such as statistics, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, computer science, or related STEM program.Experience with two or more following roles: Game Director, Game Designer, Game Developer, Game Tool Developer, Game Analyst10+ years relevant work experience supporting government customersActive TS/SCI clearancePreferred experience with three or more following roles: Game Director, Game Designer, Game Developer, Game Tool Developer, Game AnalystMilitary Wargaming Certification
