The Washer is responsible for operating the washer/extractors and to clean hospital articles. 

Responsibilities

Operates all washer/extractors and Tunnel washer equipment.

 

Selects, weighs, and sorts items to be washed.

 

Loads and unloads washer in a timely and productive manner over an extended period.

 

Maintains proper level of soaps, detergents, bleaches, and/or washing solutions and marks drums appropriately.

 

Performs specialized operations such as washing special articles and spot cleaning to remove stains.

 

Hoists clean linens via overhead monorail system to appropriate processing area.

 

Records items of linen washed, chemicals used, amounts of stain and rewash items.

 

Maintains equipment and area in a clean and safe condition.

 

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND

 

One year experience in washroom in a commercial or institutional laundry; AND

 

Two (2) weeks to one (1) month on-the-job training will be required to attain proficiency of performance of assigned duties and responsibilities; AND

 

Must have proper color vision for detecting of stains, etc.
