HDR's global team of Zero Emissions Mobility (ZEM) professionals delivers tailored solutions to help clients transition to zero emissions technology. We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our ZEM program in Washington state. As the Washington Area ZEM Section Lead, you will champion HDR’s zero emissions services, including battery electric and hydrogen technology for vehicles and trains, as well as charging/fueling infrastructure, design, and implementation programs across various business groups. You will also work closely with Washington's leadership to identify growth opportunities, build strong client relationships, and address the region's evolving needs. Responsibilities include developing a regional zero emissions business development plan, managing projects, overseeing regional initiatives, staffing, building client relationships, supporting proposal development, providing technical expertise, ensuring quality control of project deliverables, and driving annual practice growth.
Primary Responsibilities:
In the role of Washington Area ZEM Section Lead, we'll count on you to:
Represent the Washington Area ZEM practice as a liaison to internal and external organizations and clientsDevelop, support, and execute a regional business development plan to meet or exceed annual growth targetsServe as a project manager on key ZEM projects and provide guidance and leadership to internal teams to ensure on-time and high-quality deliverablesFoster strong external client relationships and participate in business development activities, including pursuit capture planning, proposal development, and scope/fee developmentCollaborate with Washington’s Business Group Managers, Business Development Leaders, Client Development Leaders, Market Sector Leaders, Business Class Managers, Major Programs Leaders, Cross-Business-Group Partners, and other regional leadershipHire and oversee ZEM staff in Washington state, including conducting regular meetings with staff to discuss key challenges, forecasting and manage workloads, coordinating staffing needs, fostering open communication, and providing opportunities for skills developmentActively participate in projects or manage projects to meet assigned utilization rateCollaborate with Project Managers, Practice Leads, and leadership in other offices to identify work sharing opportunities to utilize regional resources or loan labor to other areasParticipate and encourage technical expert involvement in industry organizations and functions, including presentations and publicationsPerform other duties as neededPreferred Qualifications:
10 years of experience with the planning and implementation of zero emission projectsProfessional engineer license in Washington stateExperience as a Project Manager working with diverse teams in multiple locationsAbility to develop and assess project budgets, pricing/estimated costs, etc. Ability to coordinate effectively with business development and technical staffAbility to develop and maintain excellent relationships with existing and potential clientsStrong communication and presentation skillsAbility to motivate and manage staff on several concurrent projectsProficiency with technology tools such the MS Office suite Strong decision-making and leadership skills#LI-JM8
