The Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program, an AAR business, headquartered in Rockledge, FL, provides global, world-class expeditionary and conventional aviation solutions to the US Department of State Air Wing.

Role Description:

Responsible for all aspects of the safety management system, aviation and ground safety programs, and the execution of all aviation and ground safety related training, audits, and inspections as directed by the Aviation Safety Manager. Monitors fundamental aspects of the safety program at the assigned site per the direction of the site Aviation Safety Manager. Provides administrative support including maintaining all departmental files, records, and publications needed to support organizational activities and to meet the U.S. Department of State’s Air Wing requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure proper safety procedures are followed in accordance with appropriate federal, state, and local regulations, rules, and procedures, per the contract’s performance work statement and program directive. Directly responsible for presenting and recording safety training to employees.Demonstrates a high degree of technical competency in the field of aviation safety, mishap prevention, and accident investigation.Completes and publishes safety audits and inspections periodically.Conducts hazard analysis and risk mitigation in order to prevent accidents, occupational injuries, or other safety-related financial losses through routine inspections.Investigates and completes written reports on incidents, providing root-cause analysis and mitigation recommendations.Extensive research into aviation, safety, or environmental regulations as required.

Associates Degree or educational equivalentGraduate from FAA, NTSB, or DoD Aviation Safety Officers Course or completion of the following courses from an accredited university: Aviation Law, Human Factors, Aviation Safety Program Management, Risk Mitigation, and Aircraft Accident Investigation.Minimum 3 years’ of experience managing a safety program.Experience in dealing with safety and environmental laws, rules, and regulations.Experience in risk management and hazard mitigation.Training and experience in conducting incident/ mishap investigation.Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point.Strong English speaking and written communication skill.U.S. Security Clearance required. Position requires the ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. security clearance.OCONUS:Ability to pass physical screening.Passport with 18 months remaining

Preferred:

Undergraduate or higher degree with focus in the aviation or safety industries. Training in OSHA, EPA, and Hazardous Materials, Waste Storage, handling, and disposal procedures. Safety Management Systems certification.Safety Management experience in mixed fleets, fixed and rotary wing, aircraft. FAA Commercial and Instrument Airman's Certificate, any category or class, or equivalent flight experience obtained from prior US military or other US government agency.FAA Part 107 sUAS certificate.
