Waste Management Quality Control Representative III
Argonne National Laboratory
+ Under limited supervision, acts as an independent verifier as the waste package certifier (WPC) for Argonne’s Nevada National Security Sites (NNSS) Waste Certification Program (WCP). In the absence of the NNSS Waste Certification Official (WCO) serve as the Alternate Waste Certification Official (AWCO), which includes oversight of NNSS WCP. Additionally, has the responsibility of maintaining and updating the NWS Measuring & Test Equipment (M&TE) program which includes keeping detailed records of all equipment in the program.
**Roles and Responsibilities**
+ Act as the NWS M&TE coordinator for all equipment impacting the Argonne WCP with elevated quality assurance (QA) program requirements.
+ NWS-Waste Management point of contact person for Argonne Quality Level B calibration service providers.
+ Responsible for all applicable and related documentation (records, calibration data sheets, databases equipment logbooks, etc.).
+ Waste Management Qualified Receipt Inspector who is responsible to ensure that all Quality Level B/C procurements meet Argonne’s purchase order requirements.
+ Work closely with Argonne Technical Representatives and vendors to promptly address quality concerns.
+ Maintain all applicable Waste Management QA records.
+ Participate in systematic audits and surveillances that continually demonstrate that the M&TE and Receipt Inspections are operating at the highest quality standards.
+ Generate nonconformance reports for any QA deficiencies identified with items and services that are critical to the success of the WCP.
+ Perform incoming inspections on roll-off containers being used for non-hazardous construction/demolition waste and uncontaminated scrap metal recycling.
+ When requested provide a secondary verification of contents for custodial front load dumpsters, non-hazardous construction/demolition waste roll-off containers, and uncontaminated scrap metal recycling roll-off containers.
+ Performs AWCO responsibilities as designated by the WCO.
+ In the absence or under the direction of the WCO, performs the following duties:
+ Review and final approval of LLW shipments.
+ Certification of packaged LLW/MLLW destined for disposal at the NNSS.
+ Participation in annual WCP internal and external audits.
+ Ensures Waste Acceptance Criteria requirements are met for various Treatment, Storage & Disposal Facility (TSDF’s) (i.e., NNSS, EnergySolutions, etc.).
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
+ Ensure waste packages contain no prohibited items per waste profile and TSDF requirements.

**Position Requirements**
+ High School Diploma with 5-7 years of related work experience or Associate`s Degree with 3+ years of related work experience.
+ To perform the essential functions of this position successful applicants must provide proof of U.S. citizenship, which is required to comply with federal regulations and contract.
+ Willing to work occasional overtime (>40 hours per week)
+ 3+ years of experience in the field of waste management quality assurance and/or transportation.
+ Experience must demonstrate technical competence in DOE Order 435.1, DOE Order 414.1, DOE/NV--325-24-00, NQA-1 requirements, and commercial/DOE Treatment Storage and Disposal Facility Waste Acceptance Criteria requirements.
**Training Requirements**
+ Able to obtain Respirator certification, Radiation Worker II, OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER, and other training as required by the facility per DOE Order 426.2 required Training Implementation Matrices.

The expected hiring range for this position is $36.07 - $53.96.
