Summary
The Waste Reduction Outreach Assistant will assist with solid waste management initiatives for the region with a focus on waste reduction and recycling campaigns within apartments and condos. This position will assist with programs that promote and encourage more waste diversion in apartments and condos as well as gather information on current challenges and barriers faced by apartment and condo stakeholders.
Key Duties & Responsibilities Promotes waste diversion and reduction at apartments and condos through property management companies, strata councils, building managers, residents and private haulers. Monitors, responds to and tracks public inquires related to apartment and condo waste diversion via telephone, email or in person. Assist with updating, promotion, installation and distribution of apartment and condo waste sorting signs and outreach materials. Assists in drafting education and outreach resources to support waste diversion and reduction in apartments and condos. Assists with researching information and identifies opportunities to increase waste diversion and reduction. Creates and maintains record of apartment and condo dwellings in the region. Documents participation and partnerships throughout the program. Maintains an inventory of outreach materials and resources. Maintains a comprehensive record of program activities. Represents the CRD in a professional and informed manner. Follows all policies, procedures, and standards of the CRD. Performs other related duties as required. Additional InformationThe anticipated length of this term assignment is approximately 16 ; 20 weeks.
Position schedule: 70 hours bi-weekly. Typically Monday-Friday with occasional outreach evenings and weekends.
Key Skills & Abilities Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of solid waste management practices and processes would be an asset. Experience working with the public and/or providing outreach education programs. Proven time management and organizational skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Proficient with Microsoft Office software including word processing and spreadsheet programs. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, PhotoShop) considered an asset. Ability to work collaboratively in a team atmosphere as well as independently.Qualifications High School Graduation Enrolment in a post-secondary program in a related discipline A minimum of 2 years' directly related experience Certifications Valid BC Driver's LicenceAPPLICATIONS
