Wastewater Engineer
Job Title: Wastewater EngineerJob Description An established and growing construction engineering consulting firm with a variety of projects across the US is seeking to hire a project engineer with 3-10 years of experience in municipal or industrial wastewater, water, and/or waste conversion systems and component parts, including control interface backgrounds. The ideal candidate will be experienced in design and project delivery on wastewater projects. Stamping designs is not required. The candidate should be personable, collaborative, flexible, not afraid to lead and mentor others, and willing to travel 1-2 days a month. Responsibilities + Direct experience with commissioning and retro-commissioning and working knowledge of measurement and verification. + Support proposal development with detailed technical project descriptions, integrating existing conditions represented by photos and drawings, and provide supporting documentation of contractor pricing and scope, and cost & savings derivations supported by engineering calculations. + Perform calculations to determine treatment capacity and appropriate sizing of equipment. + Lead the preliminary design development effort (PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, sketches, etc.) and orchestrate design review/optimization with design partners. + Perform equipment evaluation and process equipment sizing activities. + Engage vendors/manufacturers to understand viable options and establish the selection/recommendation of best solutions to the team and clients. + Manage the work of engineering design partners during the development of construction documents. + Ensure code compliance on all proposed solutions. + Review and approve shop drawings for all equipment being selected. + Provide engineering support to construction efforts. + Work with the project manager to ensure equipment delivery aligns with the construction schedule. + Provide engineering support to the construction team with the review of submittals. + Contribute to the development of the construction documents, sequence evaluation & scheduling, and creation of budgets. + Manage RFIs from contractors during project development and delivery. + Create commissioning documents and facilitate commissioning of equipment/systems. + Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and graphs. + Understanding of the application of energy screening models to determine the technical and economic viability of energy efficiency and capital improvement projects. Essential Skills + Experience in municipal or industrial wastewater, water, and/or waste conversion systems and component parts. + Control interface background . + Experience in design and project delivery on wastewater projects. + Commissioning and retro-commissioning experience. + Working knowledge of measurement and verification. + Ability to perform calculations to determine treatment capacity and appropriate sizing of equipment. + Proficiency in creating and reviewing PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, and sketches. + Ability to evaluate and size process equipment. + Understanding of code compliance. + Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and graphs. + Understanding of energy screening models. Additional Skills & Qualifications + CMiC + Water Environment Federation + American Water Works Association + Board Certified Environmental Engineer + Proficiency in Microsoft Excel + Knowledge of anaerobic digestion, sewage sludge, flow meters, and biogas. Work Environment This is a fully remote position with occasional travel to job sites and meetings (1-2 days a month). The main office locations are in Overland Park, KS or near Eian in Worcester, Massachusetts. Expect a culture of collaboration, ingenuity, creative solutions, and learning from others.
