Wastewater Engineer
Job Title: Wastewater Engineer Job Description We are seeking a skilled Wastewater Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will perform design calculations, create specifications, develop models, and prepare cost estimates and project schedules for municipal water and wastewater systems. This role involves conducting water and sewer hydraulic modeling and master planning, designing municipal water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and storm sewers, and performing analysis and design for pump and lift stations. Additionally, the candidate will conduct construction administration and periodic inspections during the construction of water and wastewater facilities. Responsibilities + Perform design calculations, create specifications, develop models, and prepare cost estimates and project schedules for municipal water and wastewater systems. + Conduct water and sewer hydraulic modeling and master planning. + Design municipal water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and storm sewers, including pipelines, pumping stations, meters, and structures. + Perform analysis and design for pump and lift stations. + Conduct construction administration and periodic inspections during construction of water and wastewater facilities. + Plan, design, and oversee the construction of public water supply, treatment, storage, and distribution systems. + Develop and manage municipal wastewater collection systems and pump stations, including BNR processes and sludge handling. + Ensure quality control and quality assurance throughout project execution. + Utilize AutoCAD for construction drawings and design specifications. + Engage in environmental permitting and regulatory compliance. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. + Minimum of 4 years of experience as a wastewater engineer. + Ability to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) license within a year. + Experience in construction observation and supervision/management of field personnel. + Experience in environmental permitting, funding, and regulatory requirements. + Ability to conduct design specifications for various aspects of water treatment plans and their equipment. + Strong communication skills and organizational abilities. + Experience in master planning, utility infrastructure rehabilitation, public water supply, and/or wastewater treatment. Work Environment This position is 100% office-based with occasional site visits for construction administration and QA/QC work. The team operates in a collaborative structure with project managers and staff engineers working closely together. There is a strong backlog of work, with opportunities for growth and promotion within the company. The office is planning to expand to a new location in Oak Brook by the end of Q1. The successful candidate will receive training under a Professional Engineer (PE) and have the potential to advance to roles such as Project Manager or Sr Project Manager. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $43.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
