To operate, monitor, maintain and troubleshoot the wastewater treatment facility and its processes.

Work involves responsibility for the technical aspects of plant operations, and compliance with state and federal operating regulations. Work is performed with considerable independence under the direction of the Wastewater Manager, subject to review through reports and results achieved.

Job Responsibilities

Perform all aspects of wastewater sampling, monitoring and testing required to maintain compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations governing the wastewater treatment process.  Contact management team with any out of specification record results.Accurately and neatly complete all required internal and external reports, forms and documentation.Assist with the installation and inspection of new wastewater equipment, components, lines and services as necessary.Perform maintenance and repair of the physical plant, monitoring equipment, pumps, blowers, valves and their components.Conduct the required daily inspections to ensure the treatment plant and operations are in proper working order; contact management team with any deviations.Analyze and interpret data to recognize trends, anomalies, and make appropriate operational decisions.Perform all work in conformance to Occupational Safety and Health Act regulations.Maintain open communications with the management team regarding the treatment process and equipment operation and malfunctions, as well as make recommendations for repairs and improvements to these systems.In concert with plant management team, provide technical support to review proposed regulatory compliance activities to determine the potential impact on company operations.Complete accurate and timely documentation of maintenance records, work orders and task records and accurately input and record preventative maintenance (planned and unplanned) activities into SAP.Disposal of unrecognizable food processing waste through land application, using a tractor and liquid spreader, and/or spray fields.Maintain a clean and safe work environment.Adhere to Saputo’s Code of Ethics and values as a condition of employment.Perform other duties and tasks as required.

Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.WWTP operator certification (any grade) preferred but not required.Ability to complete and pass required certification training courses within 18-months from the date of hire.Have knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, and basic scientific concepts.Have a working knowledge of basic machinery preventive maintenance and repair, and automated control systems.Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs and handle multiple tasks.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computer-based applications. Strong MS Excel skills a plus.Ability to follow all Environmental Policies and Procedures, and report and follow through on any deficiencies.Ability to work overtime and weekends.Demonstrated work history.

Physical Demands and Working Environment:

May be exposed to wet, hot, humid, and cold temperatures, moving machinery and noise levels exceeding 85dB.Required to work both indoors and outdoors year-round.Must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted.Frequently required to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, climb and walk for extended periods of time.Work with water treatment chemicals to include, but not limited to, chlorine-based chemicals, polymers, oils, grease, solvents, paints, glues. 

Pay Rate: $26.44 to $28.94
