Wastewater Practice Leader
Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized leader in engineering and architecture consulting, is seeking a highly motivated Wastewater Practice Leader. This role will offer expert technical support and problem-solving services to our clients, addressing challenges in wastewater treatment and driving the development of innovative and advanced solutions through process modeling, application of process technologies and dedicated research efforts. Responsibilities: Lead the development of technical solutions in water and wastewater treatment, ensuring they meet client needs and treatment performance expectations. Conduct process design calculations, including mass and energy balances, utilizing advanced modeling software. Work with a variety of clients including both public and private applications. Engage in research and application of innovative approaches to water/wastewater treatment, focusing on water reuse and both aerobic and anaerobic wastewater processes. Collaborate with team members across departments, contributing to multi-disciplinary projects and initiatives. Serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical guidance internally and to clients. Participate in client meetings and presentations, effectively communicating complex technical information to non-specialist audiences. Perform treatment system commissioning and startup services including operator training. Mentor and train staff, sharing knowledge and promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Review and research existing and upcoming treatment design and equipment systems to achieve treatment performance parameters. Qualifications: Must Have: Bachelor’s degree (PhD strongly preferred) in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering, with a focus on water/wastewater treatment processes. At least six (6) years of experience of biological wastewater treatment, process design, and the application of modeling software for environmental engineering. Ideally Have: Ability to conduct independent research and direct research and testing to apply findings to practical solutions to client challenges. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, showing initiative and creativity in problem-solving. Willingness to travel for project development, commissioning, client meetings, and construction progress site visits. Experience in consulting, project management, or related fields is desirable but not mandatory. Recent graduates with significant academic accomplishments will also be considered.
