Your Opportunity

The Regional Wastewater Sector Leader provides technical and business development leadership to the execution of projects and growth of the Wastewater Treatment Sector regionally and globally.  This position directly reports to the Wastewater Sector Leader in North America and is a part of the Wastewater Sector global community of practice. 

 

Your Key Responsibilities Provide technical leadership in wastewater treatment process engineering design, including, but not limited to, facility planning, conceptual design, preliminary design, detailed design where needed, technical advisory, and QA/QC. Develop design standards for wastewater treatment and best practices for process engineering solutions while implementing practices through delivery leaders for proper execution in project delivery. Provide leadership and guidance for the field piloting, technology demonstration and/or commissioning of treatment processes, process troubleshooting, and process optimization. Study trends in wastewater industry and identify strategic opportunities to demonstrate Stantec’s expertise in positioning for, winning and executing projects that are industry-leading and innovative. Support the Stantec brand by championing regional and national technical conferences through technical presentations and technical articles for association conferences and periodicals, participation in key professional association technical committees and/or boards. Support the Regional Business Development team to grow the Arizona wastewater market, by providing technical leadership, implementing winning strategies, and offering excellent engineering design service and delivery. Support business development planning efforts of the Global Wastewater Treatment Sector in collaboration with the Wastewater Treatment Sector leadership team. Support project pursuits from positioning to proposal development by providing technical approach and solutions, and participate in competitive project interviews. Engage in wastewater treatment science research in collaboration with the Stantec Institute of Technology and Policy, clients, academics, and regulatory agencies.  Work collaboratively with Stantec’s talent acquisition team in recruitment to build the Regional Wastewater Treatment Sector technical bench depth in Arizona. Develop the careers of younger, and peer-level professionals by providing opportunities for growth and mentoring career development.  Serve as work supervisor providing guidance and mentorship to direct report professionals and participate in annual performance reviews for career evaluation and development Complete all corporate training modules including, but not limited to, Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE), Safe Workplace Practices, business and professional ethics, Year-end Performance Review (YEPR), etc.  A travel target of 10-20% is typical for this role. Flexibility with work engagement is available. Your Capabilities and Credentials  Familiarity with Arizona wastewater market and projects is preferred.  Hold a professional engineering license in a State that holds primacy on licensure. An Arizona professional license is preferred or the ability to obtain a Arizona license within 12 months is required. Senior level of expertise in process modeling using at least one of the following software Biowin, SUMO, GPSX, or SIMBA.

 

Education and Experience Minimum of a Master of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering, or equivalent discipline, from an accredited academic institution is preferred.  Minimum of fifteen (15) years’ experience in the field of process engineering for wastewater treatment.

 

Typical office environment includes working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
